Hello Greg,

If you had to rank the top 3 mistakes made in an NFBC draft what would they be. :D

drafts takes from 4 -5½ hours depending a small bit on the guy who runs the draft but mostly on the person who finds the names of the players drafted. NY7 had a less than adequate one last year and ours was almost 5½ hours. My first year, the guy was great and we were done in about 4 hours.

Greg,

Someone has a gun to your head and says what first round pick would you want least- which one and why?

I know you can win from every spot etc, but your personal preference in 2006.

[/QUOTE]at least I noticed .. I was going to ask if it was East hails from parts unknown or West hails from parts unknown. They say the east side is run by drug lords and I was a bit concerned about your health.

Greg,

Two questions:

Is there going to be an official NFBBC this year?

Can you believe I'm only leading by one point in the current NFBBC? What's up with that??!!

I think people need to be ready for the pace of the draft. Early on, everyone is ready for their pick and the picks can fly off the board. Having a co-manager there is very helpful because it allows you to keep track of every pick. I think some teams get flustered when the picks fly off the board.

Secondly, I think teams sometimes pigeonhole themselves with their draft spots. They expect to get certain players in the first, second and third rounds and then forget they are competing against the best of the best and others may want the same players. They can get flustered when their plan begins to change.

And then I think they have to be ready for position runs. To be successful, I think you either have to see them coming or know when they are coming and act ahead of time. Remember, you could have a lot of picks to wait for your next selection, so be ready.

All I will say is that this year should go much smoother in every city. For one thing, the stickers last year were divided by AL and NL and trust me it was tough to find certain players with position piles divided by leagues. Even I had trouble keeping up in some of the leagues I worked in Vegas. This year every position has one big pile with both leagues together.

We hire a lot of temporary helpers and we can't interview everyone ahead of time, but I think we have a good group of baseball fans working the boards and hopefully all of them will keep the paces moving.

NY - I know you've done this before. I think the biggest mistake is not having a co-manager even if that person is only filling in as a bookkeepper. So much happens so quickly that you can get lost. My son has been at my house for my early magazine draft and the $500 last Tuesday. After the Tuesday draft, we spend 15-20 minutes just going over additional things we needed to have in NYC and general observations. The fact that he could probably compete quite well in this helps but, for now, he is just going along for the ride and I foot the whole bill.

If Gordon has a problem with my answer he knows he can always talk to me personally. He and I have a very good relationship and I'd like to believe he knows I wouldn't be rude to him or treat him in an unprofessional manner.

Tom is correct. We have a good relationship. I’ve spoken to him many times about fantasy football/baseball, and even the X-Files.

As for Tom’s post yesterday, I don’t believe it was unprofessional or rude. However, I wholeheartedly disagree with the contents of his post and the KP direction being given.

As for what KP is actually going to do if full leagues aren’t met, I will have to wait and see just like everyone else. I have 100% trust in KP that they will do the right thing.

Greg,

It's round 20, your deficient in both SB's and AVG, but can only address one of these. Which one do you address and why?

Sorry for the hijack Greg. Tom, sorry, but I took it as a blunt and coupled with the rules being changed. A double whammy. I guess I'm sensitive too. My apologies, I don't mean to offend you. You know I respect all your work.

Greg has assured me all picks will be random.

I'll let it go now. Put me on the phone draft if it helps.

Almost sure to come down to the final week -- a fantastic league and I'm sure you'd agree.

The first year, our facilitator was the guy who did ran an auction league the night before. His helper, I think, also was with him they. They were real good. Last season, the facilitors was OK but we waited often times for a pick to be found and put on the board. That would have been OK, I guess, but the pick wasn't always announced loud enough for us to cross it off lists until it was posted. I realize it is a bit of a crapshoot.

BTW, this chat session must seem much nicer than yesterdays

She can only count to 99, so I am fine for at least 6 rounds.

I know you can win from every spot etc, but your personal preference in 2006. I can't think of any. I've drafted 11th and 12th most of the year and loved the second round picks. I've seen one NFBC owner clean up at 15 with power and speed lots of times this year. I drafted third once and got a great steal in the second round. And being in the middle is always nice.

I don't even know what my most preferred pick would be right now. Probably 1, 2, but bottom of the first isn't far behind.
