Glen,

No need for Justin Upton when they were able to "snare" Marlon Byrd!!! :-)

Is this draft beginning earlier than the 16th or not?

This league starts when Max asked us to start it. It's all set up for the 18th. I know you folks are antsy, but we can't sell a league with a start date and then change the rules because some owners are antsy. Down boys!! ;) This draft will start soon enough. Thanks all.

I am cool with that! Pitchers and Catchers will just be rolling in, lots of fresh news to digest and that will give me 2 more weeks to study  , like that will help against this crew!

Why don't we just spend the next 2 weeks talking about our favorite things about MTM. I will start...

My favorite thing about MTM is when he threatens somebody in the draft room with a Jersey Style Beat Down if they rip one of his players or don't draft in 14 seconds after they are up!
What a cyber bully

No Greg, we disagree. When you have 15 paying customers laying down this type of money who may all want to start this thing early (and that doesn't mean tomorrow necessarily), we expect that you guys would at least hear us out, entertain the idea, and give us the opportunity to do so rather than accusing us of being 'antsy' and dismissing us out of hand. Max himself has made the same request for an early start on this thread. All responses like this do is blunt our enthusiasm. So again, I get to be the bad guy because I'm the guy with the "Mouth"...I have no further comment on the matter. I should have known better than to get involved.

And P.S. The "down boys" jab really struck me and I'm sure a few others the wrong way. What are we, dogs? Just don't get it...Perhaps there's just no reality on how much time that we spend between us rallying around this stuff trying to make changes that are for the better.

Max, you're diplomatic and kind, and I do appreciate your sense of humor, but I embarked on this little cause based in part due to your wishes. To me, this attitude just further allows justification for things not changing when they need to in cases like this and many others that we as customers and patrons of the NFBC demand and would love to see, but are continually rebuffed and frustrated in our attempts. And again, I should have never opened this up:

Now please feel free to go back to your MTM roasting if you'd like, but leave me the f!@# out of anything else. That is all.

Haven't seen Mikey this hot! Got to agree with him on this a bit though, the "down boys" is not real constructive.

Mike, to be honest I never thought about starting the league before the 18th until you sent me a note. When I read the thread and found out the guys wanted to, I said sure, why not. I do try to be kind, but not really diplomatic. You guys wanna get rolling, I am down with it! Greg says no, I can live with that too! Wow, "Down Boys" was cruel and unusual punishment?? I'm still not sure what's so bad about that, but okay I'm guilty.

Okay, again, I understand the excitement guys. I know you're excited to draft. I know Max said "sure" when everyone said let's do it. But you can't sell products with start times and set league prizes and then just switch them after 15 owners are signed up. Yes, I understand your passion now and yes you want to get started early. But there are 15 owners here and the start date was set for everyone who paid $1,000.

I got a TEXT on Saturday asking me to start this draft that night. That's not how you do things with 15 owners involved. As much as I'm the bad guy for not changing this league start date or the Diamond League to a $100,000 league prize, the fact of the matter is that you can't change things on individual requests when you have 15 owners involved. In the Diamond League, for instance, there are other owners (yes, multiple owners) who have emailed me and said they signed up for that $10,000 entry fee league because of the 4 payouts. So not everyone is always on board with changes even when some folks think all 15 owners are on board.

The draft date for this league was set for Feb. 18th for the start of spring training as Max requested. That's when it's set up to start. Good luck eveyone and I'm sure this will again be a great, great league.

As for throwing anyone under the bus, I think that's me there not anyone else.

Mike, this is not about you. This is not about me. This is about 15 owners in these leagues where we're trying to change things after they've signed up. Not everyone is on board with the early change, so I'll be the bad guy on this one. But you can't start a league 16 days earlier than you said when not all 15 owners are informed well in advance or even ALL on board.

Greg,

Speaking of Feb. 18th, can you see that this league starts somewhere around 7 or 8am est? It seems we've started at either 5pm or noon the first two years and I think most would rather kick this one off in the morning. Feb. 18th is a Holiday, so some may have a day off work.

Thank you

We can start it anytime that you guys ask for. Since Max started this league and he's really the commish here, let's work through him and whenever he says we should start this just let me know. It's all set up right now and ready to go I think at Noon ET. Let's just all get on board with the same time so that we can email the group well in advance and get everyone ready for that first day of drafting. With everyone so fired up, I wouldn't be surprised if you folks went through 4-6 rounds that first night. Enjoy.

Again, our concern is just getting everyone on the same page with this. This is a $1,000 league; it's not small potatoes. Everyone needs to know well advance the start date and time well in advance and I think we're there with Feb. 18th.

No, actually the joke is that we still have 15 owners who would like to have started this thing earlier, and we are all forced to inexplicably wait for no apparent reason regardless of the reality of the situation. We could be starting this draft as early as Saturday according to what I've heard back from everyone, but I'm the psycho that needs to be restrained due to all of my insane ideas and efforts. At this point, someone just wake me when it's time to draft...

Mike, have you spoken to every single owner in this league and has every single owner told you they want to start earlier? If so, what is the earlier date and time all 15 have agreed upon?

You keep saying all 15 want to start earlier when it's possible some or maybe several aren't even aware of this or have no desire to start at any other date/time than the one they signed up for. As a veteran player you should know that Greg and I are very flexible and accommodating to our players whenever possible. But the bottom line here is a date and time was created and that is the date and time all 15 owners agreed to when they joined this league. You continue to want to wage wars with Greg and I about these types of things after leagues are sold out and honestly both of us have no idea why. You're making us out to be the bad guys for simply starting a league at the date time and agreed upon by all 15 owners before it was sold out. If there was an issue with the starting time, it should have been discussed before everyone signed up, not after the league has been sold out.

Like Greg said, the issue is avoiding changes that even one person in your league may not be aware of. For $1,000 the safest move here is to simply start the draft when it was scheduled to begin since everyone was well aware of that when they signed up and wanted to join. But again, if all 15 owners in this league have contacted you and told you they want to start at an earlier date and time let us know when that is. Thanks.
