Fantasy Baseball is a grind. Everyday, everyday, everyday for 26 long weeks.
I know in the past that some have suggested we finish the fantasy season after 24 weeks, the rational being that it would end some of the uncertainty involving batter lineups and pitching rotations that last two weeks.
Sure, it might seem tough to lose first place in your fantasy league on the last day of the season because the two pitchers you thought were going to start didn't for one reason or another, but the owner that overtook you for first is glad we played it all out.
So with that in mind, and as Wayne said, there is no one better to represent number 26 than Sweet Swingin' Billy Williams.
Billy Williams played almost everyday of his career. At one point he played 1,117 consecutive games
{and as fate would have it, this is my 1,117 NFBC post
}, which at the time was the third longest games played streak in baseball, and is still sixth on the all-time list.
Williams and his 1969 Cubs also represent the idea behind playing all 162 games (or 26 weeks) before you can claim the championship. The Cubs were in first place everyday of the season from Opening Day until mid-September, but alas, the season didn't end two weeks early and the Cubs finished second behind the Miracle Mets.
So remember, it might be a grind, but it's a grind worth making if you win it all................
