That said, if given the choice between playing ONLY the Main Event or the XII......umm, enough said.
Glenn, my friend, you had multiple XII teams last year and will probably do so again this year. To do an "Either or" is simply not realistic. I read somewhere that they average participant in the NFBC has 4 teams.

I look forward to spending some time in Vegas!!
Yes, but I have a serious addiction to this game of ours. It's a sickness and unfortunately I've been evaluated as a lost cause. Ahhh well, let's keep the entries down then. I do love my ROI. :)

Really? So recognition is all you're after? I'll take the best return on my money.

It was Jeff Butler by the way and no I didn't have to look it up.

Good luck to you hot and cold, I'm simply trying to promote the NFBC XII. It will be a main stay in the NFBC for years to come.

The debate between which game is better the 15-team or the 12-team is ridiculous. They are both great games. The Online Championship had 864 teams last year and I wouldn't be surprised if we top 1,000 teams this year. It's not the format that is holding the NFBC XII back in comparison to the NFBC Classic, it's probably the grand prize.

Joe is right: We chose to go half in to start up a 12-team Main Event. We probably should have made it $1,500 and a $100,000 grand prize to give it a fighting chance. We thought $1,000 would be a good entry point to get this contest started and it still might work out. A lot of Classic owners hopefully will add an NFBC XII yet, and if not as Glenn said the ROI for those who invested in this contest will be fantastic. But yes, next year I think we'll go big or go home with the 12-team format.

Our audience isn't married to just one format. Heck, the more we expand our offerings the more games our NFBC members play. And if you look at the 10-team, Online Championship and Draft Champions listings you'll see that we are attracting a lot of new players in all formats. So there's something here for everyone.

The NFBC XII has the potential as Joe says to be a very prominent 12-Team Main Event. We need to take a bigger chance on it next year and we will. But for now, if you like great odds of winning $50,000 then this is the year to jump in. And if you're already in the Classic and paying Events Fees, it would make sense to jump in here and go for the $75,000 cash bonus. You never know when you're going to hit everything right TWICE. Good luck all and thanks Joe for the support.

Sometimes these threads can take on a life of their own. It was never my intent to debate one format being better than another. It was my intent to dispell some beliefs about the competitive landscape between the two. Heck, I would rather win the main event myself, it pays 50k more!!

Dave Potts, the winner of last years main event finished third in the NFBC XII last year and Chad Schroeder led both events most of last summer. These guys narrowly missed out an additional $125,000 payday. I wanted to get across that the reasons that some were stating for resisting the event were the same as why they should be participating. I didn't articulate it properly.

The NFBC XII kept me in the game and the 12 team format continues to fuel growth into this great game that we all love. So jump in guys and be the first to win these two events in the same season. We have the Lindy, maybe you'll put your name on the accomplishment, along with the $225,000 that comes with it!!

What you and the naysayers are missing out on, is that your experience and ability in recognizing the free agent pool, along with your own teams weaknesses (yes you'll have them) gives you a decided advantage against (what I will use for the sake of a better word) the masses. Continue to miss out on the opportunity that is staring you and others in the face. All of the players you recognize as "Pros" have seen the light and can be found in last seasons top 20 in mass. You don't shy away from them in the 15 team main event.

Continue to shy away, this will be your game someday when down the road the NFBC evens the playing field. The ROI this year in the NFBC XII will probably again be the best proposition that the NFBC offers. Next year they may re-evaluate and double the carrot to bring in the masses and believe me, you and the others will follow.
I'm already signed up for 2 of the XIIs. I did 2 last year as well.

I gravitate toward the 12 team format for one reason. Nothing is more frustrating then spending 4-6 months preparing for the season, only to have a couple-three injuries/poor performers/bad picks sink an otherwise competitive team. The deeper free agent pool allows for an increased opportunity to pick up some players to right the ship. This greater latitude/margin for error allows me to feel better about the time/$ investment I make to NFBC. Clearly not everyone feels similarly, but I think sometimes this aspect gets glossed over, minimalized or overlooked by some.

The added maneuverability in the 12 team format does not make it an easier or harder contest nor a better or worse contest. Just different.

So does this mean nobody wants to join this Saturday's OC draft at 4pm EST? ;)

Well - anyone but Potts who whipped me good last year in my OC's FAAB and Ruland/Gagne since we'll probably steal all each other's picks.
