SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Pick #11 I would have to choose between Jones/Kipnis and Segura. I think 2 of them still have a tremendous upside and Jones is going to plateau where he is for the next couple of years. I think I pull the trigger on Jones might get 285/105/30/105/17. He is in a very good lineup and seems to get a ton of RBI and run scoring chances.

Now we're getting somewhere. Good choice as he looks solid. Who wants to help us get to the turn and back soon? Pick 12 of 15 coming up:Rog wrote:Pick #11 I would have to choose between Jones/Kipnis and Segura. Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
OK, it may be a gamble but I am a believer and I am All-In on Mr. Puig! I know it has been a very short time that he has been up but I just can't ignore what he has done so far. I am always one to go for the high risk/high reward player (certainly works out less than I like) but he COULD return top-5 value at pick number 12 so put me down for the Dodger savior here!
Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
I'd be taking Bryce Harper right here if it were my pick in this draft. I love upside, and he has enough potential that I believe he could challenge Miggy and Trout for Fantasy supremacy in 2014!

Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
I'll take another bite of the apple and select Prince Fielder.
He'll end up in the first round in most drafts next year, so he might as well go in this one.
His numbers are behind last years, which calls for what, the anti-regression police?
Or the Progressive Party?
Anyway, somebody has to stick up for BBW (Big Beefy Wallopers)
What'd you think I meant?
Prince Fielder for the first round.

If we're taking a second bite I go Kipnis. At this point in time I'd take him ahead of Cano or any other MI!!

Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
I will retract my Puig pick since I see he was already chosen. I will choose Kershaw. The most consistent of the stud pitchers. Would have considered Harvey here, but that would have been too predictable.

Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Here's an outside pick that some may think is too early. If we are in the early second round now, this is about the time I would consider taking Manny Machado for 2014. I need to see Puig "do it" for more than a month or so before I'm a believer this early, and I'm starting to get concerned that Harper is going to be perpetually dinged-up (also not sure if his batting average and stolen bases will be all that impressive). I would take Kershaw here if available but probably would wait on all other starting pitchers. In favor of Machado, I love the development and improvement from last year. He is a doubles machine and I can see many of those doubles becoming homers as he ages, without sacrificing a strong batting average. Although he has been hitting second most of the year, I can see him hitting third next year. He has some big bats behind him and will score lots of runs. I don't think third base is particularly deep, and there always is an outside chance he could be moved to shortstop. I've watched him with envy this year as I have him on exactly zero teams
and really didn't see these type of numbers coming so soon.

Edwin Encarnacion - Show me once (2012) Show me twice (2013). This guy is a beast. 40/100 with above league batting avg. players are tough to find. He plays half his games in a great power park for Righties. A healthy Reyes/Bautista (big if) should lead to career highs in runs and rbis.

Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Totally agree, his power is still developing...I could see him easliy in 25 HR range for next season. He could sneak into the top 15 by the end of the year. I beleive he is on pace for 220-230 hits, if not even more.Bronx Yankees wrote:Here's an outside pick that some may think is too early. I am forced to take Tulo here, the upside is worth my gamble. Even with 232 ab's ( .332 41 16 52 0) i'll take the risk and hope for the reward.

As much as I think people would start nabbing Harvey/Strasburg/Yu here, I going to the well for an old reliable.

Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Yu Darvish is at an age that makes you feel his best is on the horizon. Might strikeout 300 someday. Might be this year. Posey was a consideration, but in the end, I'd rather have the best pitcher than the best catcher.
Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Strikeouts, yes, but he has 10 games this year already, giving up 3 or more runs, and has an ERA over 3.00. Not a great ERA last year either. If we are talking all around fantasy studs, Kershaw, Verlander, Felix, Strasburg, and maybe even Harvey should be drafted ahead of him. Way too early, in my opinion.knuckleheads wrote:Yu Darvish is at an age that makes you feel his best is on the horizon. Might strikeout 300 someday. Might be this year. Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
I will follow up in the 2nd round with this year's breakout guy. Will he continue in 2014, who knows, but he has put up first round numbers so far in 2013, with the top WAR in MLB, and he has the tools to keep it going. Carlos Gomez.
Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Lots of options here to debate for me, if you believe Hanley can stay healthy a whole season, he's the guy, great production for a SS...pitching is still plenty, looking at Felix and Strasburg and the best catcher is still on the board. I think I would pick Hanley considering the addition of Puig to an already loaded front end and Kemp probably hitting behind him.

Re: SiriusXM 1st Round Draft: Help Us Pick 'Em
Greg,
As most know I went "ALL-IN" on Harvey this year. It hasn't been easy as I loathe the Mets but do root for them every fifth day. That being said, I might be in the minority, but I believe he will he hands down the best pitcher in baseball next year (and years to come)! He has the stuff and the makeup, that's for damn sure! What I am trying to say is I will be happy to grab a first round talent like Harvey at this point in round two!
