If anyone else is interested please post below in case someone drops closer to draft day.
KJ, I need to be removed from the list. Maybe Fearon will return, anyway.

Sorry and Thanks

Thx for kind words Dave.

Sorry guys, Unfortunately John kicked me to the curb. I promised him a title last year and failed. I certainly understand wanting to go his own way this year. Good luck all

Fearon confirmed the last spot, we are full with 14 of 15 returning!

If anyone wants to be #1 on standby please post.

I'll probably post salaries early in the new year ... we'll let a few more guys sign contracts.

JohnP wrote:This should be fun! Early prediction:

Childs - back to a 40 benchmark team
Lowy - doesn't have enough places to spend all of his money - going big, over under set at $3800
Matt - investing his winnings into another high payroll team once he sees Childs going cheap
Greenberg / Dobies - never a doubt - battling lowy for top spend
Pucci - we won't know until round 20
Norred - steinbrenner
Shovein - trying to pull a pucci
KJ - buying players like they are oil stocks poised for a rebound
Weber - put him down for a 40
Pausma - Fox News - fair and balanced
Cohan - 40
Roger / Doughy - 20 if there was such a thing
Albright - whatever his spreadsheet tells him

missing a couple....can't wait!
We officially have another big spender!!! Congrats John on your big Primetime victory and Lowy, I am gutted for you. I honestly cannot believe what happened in those last 2 games. Taking nothing away from John's victory, I am shocked that you didn't win. I am sure AJ Green and Steve HowmanyfieldgoalscanImiss will be off your draft board next year.

Thanks Alan, I just saw this. Yeah, I'd be lying if I didn't admit that the way the Primetime ended for me wasn't a bit painful to experience. However, I'd also be less than forthright if I didn't acknowledge that a pair of bad lineup decisions on my part weeks 15 and 16 wasn't just as much a factor. Make just one of those lineup decisions correctly and Hauschka's and AJ's epic fails are moot.

John on the other hand played perfectly, and frankly outplayed me. Great team and great job by him. Though obviously I'd prefer to have pulled it out, losing to such a great champion and class act like John helps ease the pain..... well, a little. ;)

One thing I am looking forward to with this league is to get the opportunity to win back some of that big cash I lost to him.

PS... It's all about MOY for me in this league this season.

PSS... KJ, how about putting down the egg nog and releasing the salaries already!!! ;)

I hope this starts sooner than later .I am anxious to get spending. Knowing that we have all these m.o.y. year teams it might be my time to spend spend spend.
Glenn I know I can count on you to spend more on 2 picks than I spend on my entire team.
I think doughy is going to stay out of this one this year. I may have to hire him as a pick consultant.

Re: MLBC Contract League 2015 (Draft Champion)

Post by KJ Duke » Sun Dec 28, 2014 5:29 pm

Last season's average MLBC payroll was $1500 (up 9.5% from 2013); max spend for a minimum benchmark team was $750. Salary inflation for 2015's Top 450 players is 7.8%, which could push average payroll over $1600 and max spend for min benchmark to $800 ... if the big spenders bring their wallets same as last year. ☻

We could start on January 3 or 4 at the earliest, then we can chat over playoff football. Or the 9th, the following Friday.

If anyone has conflicts please post ...

I'll do whatever the masses say, but the later we wait the more signings that will occur. This will help ensure that Glenn surpasses 5k this year.

OK, I will propose starting the slow draft on Saturday, January 3rd. That way we can watch some playoff football and chat while we deliberate over the first few rounds. There aren't a lot of big free agents left unsigned anyway, mostly some arb-eligible guys that could move up in salary but most of those will probably take awhile to get done anyway.

Any objections, speak now ...

Why don't you guys invite Rueben Amaro Jr to participate. He can buy some Ryan Howard & Cliff Lee for $250 each and have a running start at LAST PLACE.

What a joke.

Well...ummm...yeah. They gotta eat too!!!

But seriously, no matter how you, my boy Rockit, Pausma, Matt, Rog, etc. etc. are trying to get me to spend this year, I've learned a better way. Watching Pucci go for both a cash spot and MOY two years running (though falling a touch short) has convinced me that's the best path to ROI. You guys will have to find another sucka to fund this prize pool this year. ;)

This is how I see it playing out.....

1. KJ Duke - After last year, learned that the middle ground is nowhere to be. Back to spending huge this year.
2. Roger Martin • Dough - With Doughy just a consultant, Rog is freed of the spending shackles. Spending huge this year.
3. Alan Greenberg • Jeff Dobies - Ummm, as always spending huge this year.
4. Matt Anderson - Was a huge spender even before the championship. Will spend huge yet again this year.
5. Shawn Childs - Spent huge last year. Fleming is probably a silent partner. Will spend even huger (is that a word?)
6. Bruce Pucci - After 2 years running of falling short in his MOY & cash aspirations.... Will bite the bullet & spend huge.
7. Dave Shovein - Bored with his annual MOY attempts, will spend huge this year.
8. David & Joe Anthony - Joe finally wins out on the strategy decisions. Spends huge this year.
9. Bill Fearon - Spends huge this year.
10. Ken Norred - Takes some of that Platinum cash and spends huge this year.
11. Paul Weber - Spends huge this year.
12. John Pausma - Flush with NFFC Primetime cash, spends huge this year.
13. Ted Cohan - Spends huge this year.
14. Eric Albright - Spends huge this year.
15. Glenn Lowy - MOY.
