It also got me thinking about the Mets World Series history. This is their 5th trip to the Series and for the 5th straight time, they've lost the 1st game. For the 4th straight time, it was a 1-run defeat. And for the 2nd straight time, the loss came in extra innings. Wow, talk about putting your best foot forward. :?

The good news, of those four previous World Series Game 1 losses, the Mets went on to win two of the Series, pushed another to seven games and probably should have one that one with a 3-2 lead and Seaver & Matlack going games 6 & 7, and while losing 4 out of 5 in 2000, three of the losses were by a single run, the last by 2, and we probably would have bridged that minute gap if only the Mets had as good a Balco chemist as the Evil Empire. :?

In other words, tough loss, but only one game. And tonight's another one. Hopefully tonight's is over before 1:30am and with our Mets entering the win column. Can't wait! Let's Go Mets!!! 8-)
Good thing you quit smoking before that game!! Talk to you tonight on the show!!

What's this quit smoking thing you speak of Greg? I think I smoked a full pack during tonight's game alone! :D

Thor and Captain America! Now that's what we're talking about. It's a Series again, the World Series Baby!

Thor interviewed after the game... regarding 1st pitch of the game to Escobar.... "That's my plate, not theirs." Royals very angry reactions after the game and Noah says, "If they have a problem with that, they can meet me at the mound." Maybe I am old fashioned, but pitchers I saw growing up ALWAYS brushed back players.. And the pitch tonight wasnt even that close to his head.

Anyways, Its a long way to go. But, good start tonight. Lets go METS!!

Mets played a nice game. Going to be tough to win one there. And KC needs to get one. Mets are just a touch better overall team IMO. Extremely evenly matched when you consider the home field advantage that KC has. I will be a part of that advantage if and when games 6 and 7 are required. Hard to imagine KC winning two in a row in NY. Much better chance Mets lead 3-2 heading back to KC.

Forgot about the the horrific middle infield defense of the Mets in my analysis. 3-1 Royals. 3 chances to win it all.

Last night was definitely another tough loss, made even tougher personally that I was at the game. Blowing yet another late lead has made our quest a bit more difficult. It won't be easy, not by a long shot.

You've got to give KC some credit though. No quit in them for sure. And their approach to the game, getting bat on ball over and over, has helped thus far minimize the Mets power pitching advantage. They're a much better team than I anticipated going into the World Series. If they win it, they will have deserved it.

But they still have to win one more. And it won't be easy. The Mets get to throw out the Dark Knight, the Degrominator, and Thor, one after the other these last three games. For each of those games, mostly because of those three starters, I'd be surprised if we weren't the individual game favorite in the Vegas odds each night. One game at a time, starting tonight with Harvey.

Win or lose though, whether on the precipice of a great three game comeback or with tonight being the very end, this was an exciting season to be a Mets fan. And thanks to my Mets, I had the opportunity to attend my very first World Series game ever yesterday. And I got to attend it with my son. So because of the Mets this season, hopefully last night and getting to go to a World Series game is a memory that lasts with my son for a lifetime. I know spending my first World Series game with my boy is memory that will last a lifetime for me.

Awesome Glenn. Its a once in a lifetime experience, especially for us Mets fans. I had my one and only in 1986. Having it with your kid, makes it that more special. One game at a time, from here on out... otherwise, yes, great season and great future for the Mets.

My wife and I attend about 10-15 Las Vegas 51's (Mets AAA team) every year. We've had the Mets AAA for I think our 3rd year before that it was the Blue Jays. My wife loves baseball we watch the series and my wife will recognize one of the players and say we saw him. Thor, Matz,Wilmer, Tejada and a few others. She won a bat autographed by all the AAA guys last year and she always asks did he sign my bat. Fun stuff watching these guys compete.

Future is bright for the Mets. Royals just found a way this time. A little better than the Mets in many areas and it was enough to overcome the incredible Met starting pitching. Glad they don't have to play this series over again. Many times it would not have went this way.

Although not the way I wanted to finish this thread, a great season for the Mets. I was lucky enough to see all 3 games with my Dad, and these games, especially the victory, are memories that can't be taken away.

Great season Mark and memories with your dad that I wish I could have spent with my dad before he died. They lost to the better team this year. We made it much farther than the .500 record that most predicted and the future looks pretty good. See you in the spring.
