I just can't continue to plunk down $$ every year with a 20% chance to win no matter how good the games are (auction especially - GREAT) and the NFBC management is (top notch).

Not understanding why more people haven't been banging the drum for some new contests, I guess everyone is winning money except me!
Ken,
As others have noted, you would only have $6,000 for prizes.
If wanting to pay down to 6th place, the structure would have to be something like...

1st- $2,000
2nd- $1,500
3rd- $1,000
4th- $500
5th- $500
6th- $500
Not very impressive, is it.
With taxes, those that 'win' their money back, really don't.
Plus, there is no Overall carrot.
Plain talk, there just wouldn't be much incentive to play.

BUT, if there are enough folks like you who want to play a full season for the thought of winning money, disregarding, how much money....
I would suggest this payout structure.....
1st- $1,500
2nd- $1,000
3rd- $900
4th- $800
5th- $700
6th- $600
7th- $500
This would probably be more tempting to those wanting to payout more teams.
Ken, if you believe in it, promote it and try to garner interest. Greg/Tom have a lot on their plate. This will have to be a grassroots effort led by you.
Good luck!

I can see that there clearly isn't much interest in my idea. Quite frankly maybe the NFBC has no reason to change anything...business is apparently good. But DFS is not going away despite the best efforts of some of our politicians. And if the masses decide that DFS is a better deal, the landscape could change.

I don't have the time, energy, or inclination to promote a new NFBC contest. I won $ in '09 and nothing in any of the next 6 years and have to try to do something different this time around to make it profitable. Anyway I'm rambling.....

We're certainly open to new ideas and if there are 15 people who want to do something with a different type of prize payout we can look into that. Couple things I would add:

1. The Cutline is our attempt to provide a unique type of contest new to the NFBC this year. Hopefully people will take to that and we can put forth a quick (by baseball terms) draft experience that will also have a unique in-season format as well. That's the plan.

2. We're discussing ways of adding in-season contests as well. Nothing is definitive at this time but perhaps something with a "50-50" type payout (like is used in DFS 50-50 contests) would be appealing. We could certainly look into that if we're able to put a plan in place and implement it for this season.

Like Dan said we have some things we're hoping to put into place for this season to add to what we're already offering so a new contest like this would need a grassroots type approach initially. But if there are 15 people who would like to have a league with this type of payout structure (or something else agreed upon) let us know and we'll figure it all out. :)
