Surprising guys were drafting Giles before rd 10 leading up to opening day.
Greger is the "primary" for now. Giles @ 90 k's, 5-7 w's, 10-25 svs, sub 1.00 whip will be a solid contributor.
I'll take the under on 25 saves. Shandler would say draft the skills but this was obviously a situation to avoid in the first 10 rds of drafts.
-manager not naming a closer leading up to opening day
- having a veteran guy around who successfully closed last year and wants to keep his just job that he feels shouldn't just be handed to someone else.
-Giles will have to earn it and I think it will take months.

I'm watching the Rays ask young closer Alex Colome to start the season with a two inning save against Toronto.

Degree of difficulty: Expert.

Why put a young player in the position to fail like that?

He gets the game ending double play, but Bautista blatantly interfered with Forsythe on the pivot and he threw the ball away. Now the boys in blue are looking at it.

And he's OUT!

The replay system worked well this time.

EDIT: I see now that Colome was the pitcher of record. He only got the opportunity because Cecil spoiled a great outing by Aaron Sanchez.

As Phils fan I have mixed feelings about letting an obvious talent like Giles go. The guy is a great talent and was fun to watch as last year's closer. We'll see how the trade worked out, 3 years from now.

Likewise, let's see who the Astros closer is 3 months from now. If it's not Giles.....then anyone who drafted him within the first 10 rounds made a poor pick.

Giles destroyed AGAIN today.

Heard he may not even be the "closer in waiting" anymore. WOW!

I hope no one started him this week. At least his owners now have one of their first drops of the year :x ;)

From 7th round to not worth rostering, even $1 via FAAB. Not sure I've seen such a non-injury collapse in 4 days.
