On Georgia, HB 118 passed crossover day and is with the Senate to pass. I did finally speak to one of the bill sponsors (one of the seven representatives I reached out to) prior to crossover, but unfortunately it was on the same day my Dad died, so I am sure I was not as articulate as I would have been otherwise. In any regard, the bill did not change prior to crossover to specifically exclude yearlong fantasy contests (though the Representative did say he played fantasy football and understood what I was saying), so it was a swing and a miss by me.
We are getting some exposure in the press, however, not necessarily the way we want.

The contention is not separating DFS from yearlong, but rather whether it is "gambling" or "skill". Even as a game of "skill", they would still want the registration fees/revenue share under HB 118, so not so good. The opponents (which if they are successful would be good in the short term, but potentially problematic in the long) view the bill as a stepping stone to the legalization of other "gambling" in Georgia. And with the failure of a bill to legalize casino gambling in Georgia this year, anti-gambling advocates have put their full focus on grounding this proposal.
If HB 118 is defeated in the Georgia Senate, nothing would occur until next year (probably).

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Georgia HB118 passed GA Senate committee, but was tabled by the Senate after the third reading. That means it was not sent to the Governor for signature.
A reprieve.

Re: NFBC Is Officially Clear In New York
The ruling yesterday in a New York court is obviously something we will keep a close eye on it as it pertains to season-long fantasy games. I'm certain that Draft Kings and FanDuel will appeal this ruling and so this could be tied up in the appeals courts for years, but the New York Attorney General will decide the next move. We will just have to see how this plays out, but right now we are still licensed in the state of New York for the Fanball daily game and our season-long games, and nothing is changing as far as we know.
Here's the rather surprising story on New York's view of Daily Fantasy Sports after yesterday's ruling:

I wonder if an unintended consequence of all this taxation will be an increase in local, unregulated, leagues?
