Number 1 Pick?

I will go through all of the live draft results and have some fun with the numbers in a separate thread, but I just wanted to let you folks know that Pujols went No. 1 in 27 of our 28 live drafts (25 main event leagues, 3 Ultimate Draft Leagues). The only league that he didn't go No. 1 was in New York League 1, where he went third. Soriano went first in that league, Reyes second and Pujols third. Interesting.

Again, look for more fun numbers tomorrow. Good luck.

Oh, I bid $43 for Pujols in LABR NL. I sure hope the 20 pounds he lost doesn't hurt his power numbers!! :D

I just saw Pujols featured on the cover of some fitness/muscle magazine yesterday. The guy looked like he could crack coconuts open with his biceps! I drafted him 1 in LV7. Perhaps I'm just a sucker for coconut milk.................

Number 1 Pick?

Ok! I started this topic a couple of days ago because I had the 1st pick in a satellite draft last night. I thought it would be interesting to see what others thought and maybe help me make a decision on my 1st pick. It has been definitely a fun thread. That being said I made my decision and can and obviously live with it. LOL

I felt that I would rather chase HR's then steals so here is what I ended up with to maybe give us further banter on this topic.

One obvious observsation is I have NO SAVES. So I will be chasing steals along the way. So fire away! No problems with the critique of my draft as I am always learning. Thanks in advance.

I don't usually respond to Managers request for analysis on a team but it seems that you could REALLY use some help. Your first four picks are good, hitting wise, but you've handcuffed yourself from taking any value from the most plentiful resources on the infield in 1b and 3b.

Your pitchers rankings should be given a second look and revised. Ask yourself why Harang and Willis should be sixth and seventh rounders and look at the pitchers that were taken immediately before and after them, would they have been better choices?

Did you have a plan going into the draft or were you focused on that first pick? It seems as if there was no motive in place other than getting power after the Reyes pick. Check out NFBC adp's from the main draft and compare the player to where you took your player in your satelite, I'm betting that you took most players "too soon." The most aggregious error comes after your 18th pick. You could have turned off the computer and gone to bed. Besides Igawa, who is an unknown, there is no upside, turnaround, prospective, or value picks. A silver lining is that you will have a lot of players to throw back to the heap of free agency. I would start stockpiling any starting pitcher that breathes and tank saves.

Hopefully you'll take these comments constructively, when I saw your draft I didn't know whether to laugh or cry. Let me know how things turn out.

Thanks Doughboys. No problem at all. I guess it's worse than I thought. LOL You can laugh or cry thats ok as maybe the learning curve is larger than I thought. I actually thought things may have been going a tad astray as I approached the middle of the draft. Hopefully it won't be as bad as it looks. One never knows. Thanks again.
