No question about the saves but the 5 era they COULD (not will) provide over 100 or so innings definitely wont help. Agreed about Baker and Morales although I think Baker has a much better shot of stepping forward.

I wouldn't read too much into this draft when preparing for the live draft. First MDC does a great job. That said, things happen when your drafting on a computer. One problem I had was the list of players selected kept scrolling to the top. It took forever to try and get it back to the current pick. Not sure what was causing this but it cut into the time I needed to find players on the site list. Also the time trying to find players is not an issue in a live draft. You just call them out. On the computer if you don't make the selection it auto picks for you. In the live draft they skip your pick and than come back to you. Though getting skipped is not good it's much better than getting a player you don't want. Maybe I'm the only one who has problems with a computer but I'll take the live draft over computers any day. Word of advice for those paying to play in the computer leagues. Be sure to take the time to pre-set the draft list. Its time consuming but it will save you in the end.

I didn't do this and paid for it. But than I didn't lay any money down either. Like I said MDC does a great job and they're good for what they are.

Sack,

Hope all is well my friend. Good point on the punting saves. I have been to content to punt saves and battle for the league crown, but it was a hinderance in my quest for the overall crown.

I do not intend to punt saves this year, unless my team blows by the 6th round.

I am having a hard time judging your team because you picked five OF that have huge red flags for me. New parks, age, and attitude in the group really make them risky to me. More strong pitching (am I seeing a trend) though I think I see some 2H issues in the SP. Even with Chavez you have a nice mix in the MI and CM slots.

Analysis this early means little, but this team will take some strong in-season management (don't they all)! I see middle of the pack on this one. ;)

at this point, a couple of your pitchers look like lost causes, but without knowing what round you took them in, i can't say how risky of a pick it was.

question: how many AB do you have pierre for?

but i think you made up for those in the later rounds. not sure you have that lockdown #1SP on your roster. wolf was a good one that is flying under the radar (so far). overall, not bad.

Gecko: quite obviously, I would say V-Mart and Tulowitzki... cmon now.. those aren't bad picks at all. VMart at the end of the 2nd and Tulo at the beginning of the 3rd.. maybe Tulo a bit early, but after the big 3 were gone, he was probably the next best SS...
Yeah, according to the other thread it was V-Mart and Tulowitzki. Tulowitzki, particularly, I guess people are touting him as an early pick if he's going that early, but, wow. It's not like defense is going to help your hitters.

ok so now we are starting to see geckos draft shaping up. after deciding to kds to a low pick for santana he is now looking at vmart in the 3rd and troy in the 4th. 3 months of slamming out to bring those values down to where they belong- in gordos lap. kinda fuzzy for the second round- but if we all pay attention he will reveal it over time

Thanks Mark. I think Francis, Lowe and Bonderman (okay maybe a reach) should be solid playing for very good teams. Obviously banking on Lincecum and Joba to take huge steps forward.
Thx for the input GG. Don't disagree it was early for VM and Tulo, although with R Martin going at end of round 1 VMart at the end of rd 2 doesn't look too bad. As for Pena at the 4/5 turn, the next 1B's taken were Konerko, Gonzalez and Loney. I think Pena looks good in that group.

With an an end slot you have to reach at times based on where you can and can't get value later in the draft, and with an all-star group of drafters you can't risk everything falling just right.

Drafted from the third spot last night with this great group of champions. I'm probably not on the same level as most of you guys yet, having only won a $250 satellite league last year in my first year of NFBC competition. But I had a great experience last year, and decided to try the main event this year for the first time. Alot of you probably know me from the NFFC as I'm a four-year veteran over there.

Anyways here is my team so feel free to post any comments.
