Don't read too much into New York not matching Las Vegas for early signups because anyone who is going to fly to Vegas during March Madness and get a reasonable ticket has to plan ahead. I have talked to so many Jersey people who have called to ask about the NFBC in New York that I now have a Jersey accent, which isn't easy for a Wisconsin guy. I can confirm that Las Vegas has the most signups right now, but I also can tell you that New York will finish very strong. We will fill many leagues in New York, trust me. Just expect more early Vegas signups than the other two cities, but in the end all three will have very competitive leagues.

Cleveland will be represented in Chicago. See ya then.

I'm starting to think my favorite aspect of this contest is knowing that most of the bulletin board tough guys will soil themselves once they figure out others will actually get to see/meet them. January's "I'm gonna stomp some ass" becomes "I look forward to good competiton" in March. Sometimes is doesn't take 2 months for some of the less dense to come to grips with this reality. Scoll up, and you'll see it took Dyv a mere 2 minutes to figure it out. Carry on.

Potter: Which camp are you in? Don't be shy. January's "I'm gonna stomp some ass"
or
March's "I look forward to good competiton" in March.
Just curious...

That was like... a compliment or something. Thanks Potter - let's meet up in Vegas and let Greg buy us both a drink
Seriously, the thing about a competition like this is that you're not going to have idiots show up at the draft... well, let me amend that - at last year's WCOFF (football) we did have a guy show up drunk and pass out in the 6th round of the draft. The amazing thing? He still beat 6 teams in the overall contest... staggering (literally!)
I would just hope you have the confidence in your abilities to be competitive - then let the chips fall where they may with injuries, etc. If I happen to win money in the event, that's just gravy - enjoying the draft and the daily enjoyment of watching my team is what's fun.

Don't be so modest Dyv. Your AL auction team is going to win easily.

I am partaking in the NFBC and will be drafting in New York City, which is a just a short bus ride for me from New Jersey. A little background ... I've been playing fantasy/roto baseball for 15 years. I started with STATS Inc.'s Bill James Fantasy Baseball back in its inaugural season of 1989. I continue to play this game, which is now called STATS Fantasy Baseball. Roto leagues have come and gone for me, although I am currently entering my 4th season in my latest Roto league. I won't bore you with tedious boasts of fantasy championships. All I will say in this regard is that I have been reasonably successful over the years and look forward to competing in such a huge competition. Should be fun!

Rocket Scientist - I'm leaning towards $200 on A-rod and Vlad and Schilling and let the chips fall where they may... think that would work?
A chubby until March? Wow... let's spend more time away from the computer....

I love these fantasy baseball camps where we get to dress up in our favorite baseball outfits and midlle aged ex-big leaguers show up and hit us ground balls and let us take batting practice.
Anybody know which old MLB stars wil be in Vegas? Oh, and what's all this about a draft? Draft what . . .beer?

I don't want to give Leaderboard Sports all the credit for this, but since he started talking about getting a woody and keeping his chubby until March, we've had a great run on signups. I knew that sex sells, but this is ridiculous.
Seriously, we've had nine official signups in the last two days spread over all three cities. I don't want to blow anyone's cover but it's important for people to know that others are actually coming to the NFBC and that they're doing so at all three spots. Here's a quick lineup call since most of these haven't introduced themselves yet on this thread:
Larry Katz, Las Vegas
Lewis Lipsey, Las Vegas
Gordon G, New York
Dave Cushard, Las Vegas
Dominic Cirigliano, Chicago
Brian Oldenski, New York
Terry Haney, Las Vegas
Bruce Barnard, Las Vegas
Bruce Barnard/Meat Loaf, NL Auction in Las Vegas
Again, I apologize if I'm blowing your cover, but each day gets us closer to our goal. Thanks for trusting in the NFBC guys (sorry, still no gals signed up for the NFBC). Now back to our regular programming......

Speaking of Meat Loaf.
Poor Meat will be flying in from New Zealand the day of the draft and 36 hours after performing in concert. Talk about Jet Lag!
So if you see him nod off during the draft, if you would be so kind as to throw your pencils at him or splash a little beer in his face I'm sure he won't mind. Although he was an All State Defensive Lineman in Texas and swings a pretty mean softball bat. So you might want to make sure you wear your running shoes.

Signed up and headed to Chicago for the NFBC, also contemplating one of the auction drafts. Anyone else doing the AL-only or NL-only draft in Chicago?

I'm from Ohio also, down Mansfield way.
I'm going to Vegas though. By the end of March in Ohio I need to see the sun so bad I'd walk to Vegas

I am glad Greg is listing experts. I find it amusing that the majority of so called experts seem to get hammered in their fantasy leagues (John Hunt, ya hear me?). The more experts that come, the merrier. Most experts have fantasy knowledge, but not fantasy league knowledge if you know what I mean. The people they should have writing articles should be people that have actually won leagues before. My success of national titles in baseball leagues has led for websites to ask me to write for them. Am I a great writer, nooooo, but I know how to play fantasy baseball. Someone very smart once said, you can craft a writer, but you can't make a fantasy owner.

Some of you may already know this dynamic duo, but add the team of Eric Price and Nick Cassavetes to our NFBC list in New York. Welcome aboard guys.
Kevin Dukesherer is our latest Las Vegas signup for the NFBC. He's another Midwesterner leaving the cold winter in March for sunny Las Vegas. Welcome aboard.

Beware of this team. Nick and his father John practically invented Fantasy Baseball back in the 60's

Thanks for the warning Leaderboard. I'm going to wear sunglasses like Chris Moneymaker and hope other owners don't see how nervous I am.
Also, I'm gonna bring my dad with me so he can tell me "it's okay" when I get nervous.
Seriously, inventing Fantasy Baseball back in the 60's and 50 cents will buy you a newspaper. Like most things, it's "What have you done for me lately."

I didn't invent anything and I suck at fantasy baseball. I'm just Dead Money walking in. I don't even know if I'll be lucky enough to find the draft room, let alone figure out how to pick a player or two...
I will buy a magazine (probably from Krause [shameless plug]) in the airport on the flight out to Vegas and if I can stay awake I'll read up on which ballparks have the best ticket prices. I'm a firm believer in getting good value, so I'm going to draft all the players from ballparks with cheap tickets.
Thanks all for letting me hang out with you - perhaps I can get all of your autographs??

Thanks for the intro Greg, but I left the cold midwest a few years ago.
I'll be driving to Vegas from San Diego for a few days before heading off to Mesa for my annual spring training trek.
In Mesa, I will be meeting with Dusty Baker and Jim Hendry to discuss the appropriate moves to get Maddux signed and get the Cubs into the World Series ... and by "meeting", I of course mean yelling my expert advice from the 10th row between innings.

Let's give it up for the team of Steve Siniski and Jason Kessler, who are the latest to join the New York NFBC draft. Looks like those New Yorkers believe in the old adage "two heads are better than one" as we have several managers and co-managers set for the Javits Center. Keep 'em coming while we still have a few early bird giveaways left. We gave out our last Pete Rose autographed baseball -- a dozen were given away in all -- and most of the other autographed items are gone too. But sign up and I'll find a way to get something to you.

They keep coming in pairs to New York. Let's welcome the team of Peter Lukowicz and Will Robertson and give them a real Bronx cheer!! Good luck guys.
