Greg,

I'm curious to know about 3 players:

1. David Ortiz, who if memory serves me was a consensus 1st rd pick last year at the main event

2. B Phillips, (i'll guess ADP last night of 16)

3. BJ Upton

thanks!

Pujols had nobody protecting him in the lineup last year and still put up 1st rd numbers. He's by far the biggest risk/reward player in the 1st rd (or 2nd rd!!)

perhaps this could explain Beltran's drop:

Carlos Beltran doesn't expect to play in the first few exhibition games next month as he continues his recovery from knee surgeries.

"I’m not where I want to be," Beltran said. "The test won’t come until I run the bases."

If he doesn't steal 20-ish bags, and with his constant injuries, he loses some luster. I can tell you it did with me. I passed Beltran at 2.10, but it was a very tough call.

ya I mean, in the mid to late second round I'd definitely give him a good long look... who did you decide on instead?

Greg is right - Victor Martinez.

I just have a hard time taking a guy with knee surgeries, especially when part of his value lies with SB's. I've had each knee scoped, and it definitely has affected my speed on the b-ball court. (But so has 40 years of age). Nonetheless, I'd probably still school any left-handed, mustached guy who likes Coronas and thinks he can shoot. :D

And I hear ya about knee injuries. Tore my ACL and MCL in 1975 and have a gruesome '70s-ish scar to prove it. They don't make them like that anymore!!

dave those indians are all over the board- you can draft anywhere and get the whole team- esp. the closer

you're right, this might work out perfectly.. I can get Grady 1st round, Victor 2nd, then move on to Hafner in the 3rd, Sabathia in the 4th, Fausto in the 5th, Peralta in the 6th, Borowski in the 7th, Garko in the 8th, Asdrubal in the 9th, Blake in the 10th, Gutierrez in the 11th, Westbrook in the 12th, Dellucci in the 13th, Lee in the 14th, Byrd 15th... then just PRAY that Adam Miller is there in the 16th :D

Ya know, that's not a bad lookin team... ;)

I think you could conceivably take the first 4 and it wouldn't really be a bad draft at all. Man, that would make my life so much less complicated... root for my real-life team WHILE rooting for my fantasy team.. what a concept!

Greg ive made my mind up for the later pick's, still i like one because AROD is just a sick head start , but after the 1st pick i would go 10,11,12,13 ,14, 15.Its like getting 2 studs picking late , about 20 to 22 guys that i have as A players before the next drop to A- players.

The thing I think people overlook about A-Rod is his runs scored. It's sick. He's led the AL in runs scored five times since 1996, including four of the last seven years. Since 1996, here's his runs scored totals: 141, 100, 123, 110, 134, 133, 125, 124, 112, 124, 113, 143. Add in the career .306 average, league-league power numbers and 20s-ish SBs and you see why he's the best fantasy baseball player in history. Just too good.

the next 5 pitchers will be Bedard, Webb, Beckett, Sabathia, and Lackey (although I could see Hamels sneaking up in there).
