I have a quality salesman in mind who wants to make that pitch. ;) And then we'll have our eye candy for Draft Day.

Blame your NFBC peers for not marrying up!! :D

We want workers who know the sport and paying the spouses of our members to work is a good benefit to everyone. I agree the eye candy can be special -- and I encourage Jesse and Dustin to do that again in the WCOFF this year!! -- but right now we are set in all four cities with solid workers for every event.
That has two meanings. You can go to the site and change it...
Nope. The spreadsheet is the official KDS list. That's what we'll be using when we pick the draft orders tomorrow.
I understand that. Too bad you can't make it so it's not visible after the deadline. Someone will change it tonight, and wonder why......
The deadline was Wednesday at noon. If anyone wanted to change it, they were given an extra 24 hours. At some point, it's time to make a decision.

Do you think by next season you'll be able to offer a multiple-lge auction contest?

Will you sell out before you leave the office tonight - have you put in a call to Walla? Is Tom running a couple of credit cards as we speak?

We're struggling to grow the auction league market and adding on another layer of expenses doesn't appeal to me. We didn't even get a $1300 Mixed Auction League in Las Vegas this year. We didn't get a $650 AL Auction League in New York this year. I'm not sure it's in our best interest to try a multi-layered auction contest when obviously single-league auction formats are losing popularity to draft leagues.

Greg,

If you considered an online type of $500 or $250 per team event patterned after the Main Event would you feel the need to run the leagues concurrently or do you feel having multiple draft days (making it flexible for many entrants )over the space of a week is a non factor ?

I believe any gains a later draft has via injury and starting jobs are offset by the earlier drafts getting part time players late that are now move up 10 places as starters.

Same day or week long shotgun start ! ? :D

There are several NFBC veterans who for a myriad of reasons can't make the live draft but still would kill to get in a league via telephone. I've told all of them that the first option is filling all 390 spots perfectly in all four cities. If that doesn't work, then we'll see what cities need to be hooked up on a teleconference to make a perfect 390. And then if we don't get 390 live bodies we'll patch our veterans into the phone leagues. So right now we have several folks who are ready to jump in if two more live bodies don't show up. And the calls to us have been made who want to sign up and draft live, but they are finalizing their schedules.

So yes, we have 390 and we actually have for a few days. But we're doing all we can to have live bodies at each site while still taking care of some of our best NFBC vets who have physical disabilities or need help from us to keep them in the event. We are a very accommodating group and even our customers understand that.

Same day or week long shotgun start ! ? :D As you know, I said last year I would have that type of format for 2008 and then an online deal fell through that prevented us from having a daily promotional vehicle to drive those events. That being said, the plan is in place to have those type of national contests at $125, $250 and $500 in 2009 as we have another online idea in place that would drive traffic to those games.

Those games would have multiple draft dates over several days, allowing owners to play in multiple leagues within the same contest. We'd announce how many leagues we'd have on each day and folks who want to draft later better sign up earlier. It's a beast of a schedule, but it's something I'm trying to figure out already for next year.

And yes, they'd be week-long shotgun starts.

My Q: Have you guys considered doing a 'night before' party or some kind of launch? Im hoteling in NY and would welcome it. We did that the first two years in Las Vegas and so many folks were either in the auction leagues or having too much fun on their own to partake. We had former MLB players as speakers and sponsored drinks and it was fun. In NY, we did it the day of the draft because it was hard for too many folks to come into the city just for a Friday night party.

Ask Tom to organize a drink-fest in the Big Apple. He's a good event coordinator for these kinds of things. ;)

GoBaby In a convoluted, poorly constructed sentence you asked Greg for some pitchers. He answered. Notice his lack of a request for you to expouse on his selections. Poor form.

Greg Do you ever lament over not being able to play in your own contest?
