bill Back in the first year of the NFBC, I downloaded overall data monthly so that I could compare month-end results. I wanted to see how much the rankings changed in each category. This might give me an idea of how much ground I could expect to make up in a catgory. I also thought it would be interesting to see how many teams recovered from a bad first month or two.

I stopped doing this after the first year because a) it's very tedious going from text files to Excel. I seem to recall that any team names with numbers or apostrophes required extra editing. b) Too many owners were changing their team names throughout the year. Reconciling these changes was not fun.

Putting it simply, if you change your team name you are trying to deceive others. That's not strategy, its deception and it's wrong. Thanks Greg for fixing this problem. Thats not even mentioning the fact that when I see names like Daffy Duck on the leaderboard it decreases the credibility of this contest.

The Team Owner name should not be able to be changed or hidden IMO.

As for Team names - I don't see the harm there - you should be allowed to have some fun there I believe.

Gekko has caught some flak from others for changing his team and owner name to Jesse James.

I for one chose a subtler approach with my Bob Ford joke. But the fact is that his name is back up there now. He has done what Greg requested so those blasting him over his cat and mouse game are off base to be doing it after the fact.

There is at least one unidentified owner out there still.

Anyone know who MR UNKown is in NY 2? Seems like he hasn't gotten the memo?

Anyone know who MR UNKown is in NY 2? Seems like he hasn't gotten the memo? But surely that wasn't Gekko that had the false name. He denied that it was his team in the other thread. Everyone must be senile, while he tells the truth.

yep. i've been called a lot of names today and been insulted by a number of people today.

such is life. the kicker is, if i did that to someone else, i'd get reprimanded. guys say i cheat, lie, etc...

BACK IT UP. SHOW YOUR PROOF. SHOW GREG AND HAVE ME BOOTED OUT. THERE MUST BE SO MANY INSTANCES OF ME CHEATING YOU GUYS CAN FIND AT LEAST ONE, RIGHT? :D

the truth is, these guys like to hurl insults and unsubstantiated boldface lies at people while hiding behind their keyboards. i feel sorry for them because they are likely trying to make up for some inadequacies in their real life by putting other people down here on the boards. these type of people get trampled on in real life. again, i do feel sorry for them.
Speaking for me, I haven't called you a cheat. I am calling you a liar again, as you refuse to acknowledge you changed your name Jesse James. Lie about that, I say you also lie about the reason you drafted Smoltz.

I admit we started Wang...not hiding anything there, nor untruths.
Quack - to be clear. I felt you did well to have raised the issue, which in turn alerted Greg to an issue that was quickly resolved. You did it clearly and cleanly without pointing the finger at any one person. Perfectly executed.

Today you left that more sensible approach behind - you already accomplished your goal - leave it to Greg and Tom to be the policemen here- they don't need any help from us.

You folks are pushing me to the NFFC boards a little more with each ridiculous post this week. I'm not sure even any of our reptiles over there could top today's session. Walla Walla, I hope to spend more time on the NFFC boards soon and I don't want to hear a peep out of you or anyone else. You've all pushed me and others off the edge this week. Sheesh. ;)
