So far I've only watched him take one AB...a soft ground out to third.

He doesn't have any presence at the plate...like just another guy.

Not good.

But then again...once he gets that first MLB hit...his confidence could soar. (If he's not sent back down first!)

Gordon Beckham-3B-White Sox Jun. 9 - 7:52 pm et

Two scouts have told the Arlington Heights Daily Herald that Gordon Beckham will have to change his swing to be an effective hitter at the major league level.

"He looks like a pretty good athlete," one scout said. "But he’s got to change his swing or (pitchers) are going to keep pounding him inside." Said another scout: "The way his swing is, he’s got no chance right now. They’re going to keep working him in until he makes an adjustment." Beckham has shown a long swing and poor patience while starting off 0-for-13 as a major leaguer.

All that mumbo jumbo said...I GUARANTEE he gets NOT ONLY HIS FIRST MLB HIT...BUT HIS SECOND TOO!!!

Just a gut feeling he gets two hits tonight!

Hit and a walk tonight. Don't underestimate those Jawja boys! :D

can we get a picture of gecko reaching into the toilet to get the $ back out. like i said- lots of pressure lots of negativity involved in sports. . so far- he has proven that he is tough mentally and the sox did not "bring him up too soon" whatever that means.

Just thought I would put a bump on this thread. I do not want to jinx him (crossing fingers, knocking on wood, throwing salt over my shoulder) as he is on my pathetic team, but since his 2 for 28 start, he is 39 for 107 (0.365) with 14 extra base hits including three homers, three steals, and thirteen walks.

He will not be this good forever, but not bad for a rookie.

How about Medlen, Acosta, Schafer and a bushel of boiled peanuts?

Well, starting with June 8, the first Monday after he was recalled, Beckham hit .277 (102-368) with 28 doubles, 14 HR, 63 RBI and 7 SB's. Not sure what anyone paid for him in FAAB, but I think they'd all say he was worth it.
