The league prizes are as follows:

First Place = $3,500

Second Place = $2,000

Third Place = $800

I know the round numbers look nicer in print - but this seems better and more logical to me

First Place = $3,700

Second Place = $1,800

Third Place = $800

or even

First Place = $3,500

Second Place = $1,750

Third Place = $700

Fourth Place = $350

Just my opinion but I just feel 1st Place deserves the proper separation from the second place money. Maybe adding something for fourth would attract even more players to the auctions.

Third Place = $800Good point on the above idea. In all of our events first place is twice what second place is and we try to give back most or all of your money for third place. We'll look at this closer but I think you are onto something. I think we have second place too high and I don't think we need to pay for fourth place in this national contest. So let us tweak this and get it final. Good job.

greg what about getting rid of the 6th-10th overall prizes and reapply them elsewhere. maybe to 2nd - 5th overall.

1. $15,000

2. $5,000 (up from $3,750)

3. $3,600 (up from $2,000)

4. $2,000 (up from $1,500)

5. $1,600 (up from $1,000)

I first need to see the "official" mixed auctions listed on the new website, but after reading the opening of this thread twice would probably do both the Friday 9:00 and 4:00 Vegas $800 drafts rather than one $1300 draft.

Is this a "live event only" or is there a possibility that one of the championship auctions can be held online so those of us that cannot travel to one of the sites can compete?

I am interested in allowing a $1300 Mixed Auction League in each city if participants are willing with the first $800 going towards the current prize pool in the Auction Championship and those folks still being involved for that overall prize pool. We could then increase the league prize for that league or leagues with the additional $500 per team (75% of that going to the league prizes). Kind of like an additional side pot that gets added to first, second and third place, if you will. That would add an additional $5,625 to those league prizes and we'd figure out that split accordingly to the current league prizes.

I would do that.

At this point, I am only planning for a live component only in the NFBC Auction Championship. Sorry, but we don't own auction technology yet and I'd hate to have our overall prize determined by someone else's technology. That would be risky.

If you're asking about the NFFC Classic Auction Championship, I think that is the plan. We may not be able to plan for 10 total leagues with only one weekend to do it, but we'll see. We want to make this overall auction concept work in football as much as we do in baseball.

If you're asking about the two weekends for football, obviously you can't do the same contest over two weekends with the Thursday game involved. So that's a no. But we certainly like both weekends of the fantasy football season.

I love the addition of the NFBC auction championship this year. I did my first NFBC auction this past year and had a great time.

Hah, don't believe everything you hear through the grapevine. We are just focused on two weekends of baseball right now and have nothing in the works for football 2010 yet. Lots of possibilities, but as you know well, that's a Wild, Wild West compared to the high-stakes baseball market. We like Labor Day weekend and we'll do our best to sell out that weekend first.

Just an FYI for folks who may be interested in participating in the NFBC Auction Championship next year, I do have an Excel spreadsheet from one high-profile auction league last year with dollar values for each player. These are auction values realized from a 15-team NFBC Mixed Auction League.

I don't have names of owners on it so nobody will be able to scout tendencies or anything. Plus it's past results. But if you want to see how much starting pitchers go for, closers go for, top stars like Pujols, etc., I have an Excel document for you.

My old e-mail is alive for another week or so, so try me there for now. [email protected] and I'll send you the file. I actually did this for an NFBC owner and haven't sent it to him yet. I will now.

If this helps newcomers prepare for this Auction Championship, then it was time well spent by me.
