First Draft 2011, In 2010

Post by DOUGHBOYS » Mon Aug 30, 2010 4:18 am

We still have one, possibly two openings for the first draft of the 2011 season.

We are hoping to start this draft immediately after the regular season ends.

Perfect for something to do during the playoffs and Series!

All your instincts are telling you, no, it's too early, but you know you want to, you know you do :D

I'm in. Since this draft is this year I can still do it! ;) Well I have to have at least one league to get me through next year.

Glad to have you, John.

You can look at it as your last draft this year.

I'll look at it as a tuneup for Vegas '11.

You're not robbing us of seeing Crane and Shandler in the same room! :D

We have 14. Maybe 15.

I am waiting on an e-mail reply from one other player.

If I don't get a reply by the end of the day, we'll open this up to one more player.

Thanks everybody.

We have one opening for the 'Premature E-Draftulation League'.

Who wants to be the last entrant for the first league of the season?

Doughy,

Hopefully that spot is still open. If so, I'd like to have it. I agree and think it'll be good prep for next March. Rich

You're in, Rich!

We are at 15 and full.

It should be interesting drafting for real with 2010 just leaving the rear view mirror.

I'll submit the names to Greg and nearer to the draft, all participants will register and pay.

Good luck to all, it should be a kick.

Little late to the party it looks like, if for any reason you have any cancellations and need another team, I'm down

Thinking about KDS - the back end seems better for 2011. I think I went 1,2,3...14,15 in every draft last year.

My pleasure.

It should be a lot of fun to see where these players go with 2010 so fresh in our minds.

Dan, I just noticed that you are planning on starting this after the regular season ends. Would it make more sense to wait until after the world series ends, to avoid this scenario:

Somebody drafts David Price. Price blows out his arm in the playoffs and is out for a year. Meanwhile somebody has already drafted him and is stuck.

Ken, Heck, players have shown us that they can get hurt by Chuck E. Cheese.

We'll just take our lumps.

The draft will start as soon as the draft room is accessible, which could be a little into the playoffs anyway.

Yes, we won't have the baseball draft software live the day after the MLB season, but it is on our schedule of things to do. We are working on basketball now and hope to have the draft site ready for hoops shortly. Then we can unveil our basketball offerings and get the ball rolling there, hopefully in the next week.

We should be able to get baseball's draft software rolled out by the end of October. That's the goal, anyway. And then we can really get the drafting season rolling with pay leagues and Slow Drafts. Thanks for all the interest in 2011 and we understand the desire to start baseball drafts early this year. We're going to get to it, but first we have to get the roundball game rolled out.

Thanks all.

We can do the draft like Mocks the last few years, right here on the message board. From the signup list it looks like many of us have been in these early mocks in the past. It is a slow draft and we have five months to complete it. Doughboys can draw the teams for pick perference and post them. Then the teams can pick their draft slots.
