Any word on how the surgery went?

Glenn I talked again with Geoff's mom this morning and the good news is that they were able to do both procedures yesterday without surgery. They were able to drain some fluids from his lungs by putting tubes into him and it looks like they will do that again today. The fever is still high, but it came down slightly in the past day. They allowed Geoff to be conscious for a bit yesterday and his mom said that he did ask about his heart and about work. She let him know all of the guys at work are praying for him and so are the customers. She said he did respond to that.

They have him heavily sedated again today as they try to bring this fever down and to get the infection out of his bloodstream. His heart specialist will be in to see him today, but so far it looks like his heart is strong and no additional procedures are needed there. We hope that continues to be the case and they are able to get this infection out of him once and for all.

Thanks for all the thoughts and prayers everyone. Let's hope we see continued improvement each day and have better news each day. The power of prayer can help, so thanks.

I just talked to Geoff's mom and she said Geoff's fever has broke and they no longer believe he'll need to have heart surgery. She said he's still on the ventilator and under sedation but they hope to ween him off both. She sounded very upbeat and it sounds like things are turning in a positive direction. Let's hope so.

Sounds like they hit the right antibiotic...the fact that the fever is gone means that they have likely beaten the infection into submission. If this is all accurate, looks like the corner has been turned. Great news...sure his family is breathing a sigh.

GREAT NEWS about Geoff this morning everyone.

I just talked with his mom and everything is looking much, much better for Geoff. She said the fever broke completely last night and Geoff is almost at 98.6. They feel they have a handle on the infection, hopefully. They are going to do a CAT scan this morning on his lungs and with any luck he will be off the ventilator soon. He is now conscious and he knew I was on the phone. She put the phone to Geoff's ear and I told him that everyone was thinking about him, that everyone was praying for him and that everything would work out. She said he acknowledged everything and hopefully we can talk soon.

So they have a few more tests today and then they will have a better grasp on what the future holds. No heart surgery is in the plans and he hasn't had any surgery to this point, so the antibiotics did their job. Let's keep praying for Geoff and hopefully he will be on his feet soon. The road to recovery is already starting, thankfully.
