Will check the site for link to league when we can start.

I will be flying cross-country for much of the day on Thursday. But Greg has my pick (#2) for the 1st round of the $1K Slow Draft should that get started, and I will be home and able to draft in the evening. Looking forward to getting started.

Just wondering Yes, just wait for the next email from us to all Slow Draft owners that will give details on the draft room. The draft room will take place right there as a DRAFT ROOM link will appear this afternoon. You'll just log in there and be ready to go. There is also a DRAFT PREP link with our default rankings and you can adjust them and save them as your rankings and they will load into the draft software in place of the default rankings. It's a nice setup for now and will be easy to use for Slow Drafters. We'll enhance it as we have more time, but this is a nice start and it will have Flash and non-Flash draft rooms so that everyone will easily be able to log in.

Give us a little more time to finish this up and we'll be drafting shortly. I'll also be available to help anyone who needs help making their picks this weekend. We didn't want to start on a weekend with all of these Slow Drafts, but we're doing the best we can under the circumstances. We really couldn't do this any earlier.

For those of us that have not received any emails, can you post the web address where the drafts will take place so that we can take a look around? I realize that the draft rooms are not open, but I would like to at least have the location bookmarked and ready to go in case I don’t get the next round of emails.

Sorry, I was off finishing up some legal stuff. The draft room will be on your new NFBC page where you are registered. There isn't a separate company or site for this. It will be easily accessible once you are logged into the new site. We can't unveil that just yet.

We did run into an issue that needed to be fixed today and that is part of what is holding us back. I had hoped to get all drafts going this afternoon, but things might be later than that. We hope to test this again late this afternoon. I know it sucks to delay these drafts much longer, but we can't have major issues out of the gate either. So we have to do this right or we'll hurt the Slow Drafts right out of the gate. Sorry.

It doesn't help to keep creating new threads asking this same question, but I'll do a better job of addressing these questions going forward. I'm back in Wisconsin now and working with everyone to get these leagues created and live. But it might be a little longer than I had hoped.

Tomorrow we should have our official announcement and I can speak more on everything we're doing here. No delay is expected there, which is good.

Slow Draft Start Time Pushed Back To Monday

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Feb 17, 2011 11:50 am

I wish I had better news tonight, but we just have to push the start time for all 10 Slow Draft leagues to Monday, Feb. 21st. I hate to keep promising a start date and then not delivering, but legally and technically we need to wait until tomorrow and then it doesn't make sense to try to start these over the weekend. I've just decided to give everyone a better timetable and shoot for Monday afternoon and go from there. Everyone plan accordingly and we'll do all we can to hit this timetable.

Tomorrow is a big day for IT to receive all of our data and get that into the new web site. It's going to be tough to coordinate all of that, so let us finish up on the draft room tonight with a few changes and we can shoot for Monday as the start date.

I know we are getting late into February to start these Slow Drafts, but if everyone is committed to being ready and they know Monday is the start date I think we can make this all work. Again, I'm sorry we're not there yet but we're very close and both draft rooms (Flash and HTML) are working well. We just need a couple of more enhancements on each side or we'll have troubles out of the gate.

I hope everyone can have a great weekend and start with us next week. In less than a week all of the data should be on the new site, Registrations live, Slow Drafts and Satellite League drafts rolling and life back to semi-normal again. Thanks for your patience.

We should have our special announcement on the rest of the NFBC tomorrow as well. Hopefully that will explain a few things. Thanks.

Based on the length of some Slow Drafts already completed, I think it’s very reasonable to think that 1 or more of these drafts will not be completed before the Opening Day (41 days from today, 37 from Monday). Especially considering people will be traveling for live drafts and taking spring break vacations. I hope they all go fast, but past precedent suggest otherwise.

I know you don’t want to talk about that possibility, but maybe you should consider setting some rules in case it does happen. Remember, we are not just talking about individual leagues, there is an overall contest to consider.

I would rather hear a final statement about these leagues before they start instead of “let’s just see how they play out” and make a decision then.

Seems like it would be a good idea to have each individual league get together and see if all 15 owners can find a night or two in the next couple weeks when everyone can be online at the same time for 2-3 hours to knock out some rounds. If other people think this is a good idea, any chance of setting up a separate thread for each league and seeing if it can be worked out?

I am also very frustrated by this news. It is what it is. At least I now know not to keep checking the boards every 5 minutes for a couple of days.

Hard to feel like we weren't lied to by Greg several times this week just to try to keep morale high with the troops.

I mean how could the line each day this week be "we're very close get ready to draft tomorrow afternoon" and now 3 days later we have to wait another 4 DAYS?????

I wonder how many people will drop out by Monday and if we will need to rerun the KDS again?

I think we should just go the email draft route as many of us prefer the email route anyway......and at this point I am putting the over/under at a March 1st for the opening of the draft room.

Lastly, what's the problem with starting the drafts over the weekend??? It may allow us to get 5+ more rounds in as the weekends usually are the most productive time.

Let's set up threads under "League Forum" and see if we can get enough people on board to hopefully prevent catastrophe.

In agreement with naval.

Constructive criticism:

There is a difference between optimism and false optimism. The false optimism that has been written on these boards for the past year is starting to get out of hand. Maybe start to take a more realistic approach?

There may have been a liiiiittle bit of over-promising considering we went from "before the super bowl" with convincing optimism to the 15th, 16th, 17th, and now 21st. I applaud the man for trying, but prefer the "under-promise, over-deliver" method instead of 3 weeks of disappointing delays.
