Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Mar 02, 2004 5:10 pm

Now this is a good way to end a great day. Our eighth signup of the day is none other than my fellow Cheesehead, Jeff Thomas, owner of SportsBuff. JT, it's a pleasure to have you in the NFBC competition as all of us here certainly respect your company and what you've done for the industry over the last decade. That being said, best of luck!!! JT is signed up for the main event in Las Vegas. Welcome to our growing NFBC family and good luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

We're off to another good start today as we've added one more to the AL Auction League in Las Vegas. Gregory Glukhovsky of Los Angeles has signed up for the Friday night Auction League at the Rio and will be competing for the $7,000 league prize. We now have 10 NL Auction League participants signed up and 7 AL Auction League participants. We still have room for 3 in the NL and 5 in the AL, so get your entries in. Welcome Greg to the growing NFBC family and best of luck in the bidding for the AL's top stars.

I am going to officially close the New York NL Auction League as we are stuck at two teams and both of those teams are willing to enter the NFBC instead. So let's welcome David Zwickel and Howard Rubin to the main event on Saturday at the Javits Center. You were already in the NFBC family, guys, but we can still wish you the best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize. Thanks guys.

Ah-hah, just when I closed the New York NL Auction League I got a call from Charles Cart of New Jersey asking if he could sign up for the NL Auction League!!! Yikes. Fortunately, Charles is a good sport and he is more than willing to compete in the AL Auction League at the Javits Center, bringing his son Charles along as a partner. That gives us seven for the AL Auction in New York, with five spots left. Welcome to the NFBC family guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $7,000 league prize.

Okay, now those New York National Leaguers are coming out. James "Rusty" Tinik was interested in joining the New York NL Auction League, but is more than happy to help fill up the AL Auction League. James and Barry Brown will team up for the AL Auction League at the Javits Center on Friday, March 19 and take a shot at the $7,000 grand prize. They are lifelong Mets' fans, which should make this New York auction very, very interesting. Good luck guys and welcome to the growing NFBC family.

Welcome aboard guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize. Oh, and don't be late driving up that morning because the show must go on exactly at noon!!!

Thanks Greg - Coach B and I are along for the ride. We'll throw in our money and hope to get a hot ham sandwich and dos cervezas at the draft. This crew looks tough and intense... the best kind of customers to have.

Good luck to everyone, especially one of my favorite web programmers - Dave Gawron. He needs to win this thing, so my rates don't go up.

See ya! JT

I'm happy to report that the NFBC has its first female principal participant as Sharon Williams and co-manager/husband Dan Williams are flying from Minnesota to draft at the Rio in Las Vegas. Sharon called this morning and said she was one of the Fence Sitters, but after finding out she already had two plane tickets and a hotel room booked, I could tell she had already fallen on our side of the fence. I think she wasn't sure she wanted to be the only good looking lady at the draft, but I told her others are along as co-managers. She assured me she's the baseball brains of the family and before long we started talking about the Vikings and the Packers!!! Welcome to our happily growing NFBC family, Sharon and Dan, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Hey, you guys don't also get together to watch Packers-Bears games, do you??? Actually, Terry lives in Delavan, which is where I started my journalistic career as a sports editor decades ago. Welcome aboard guys to the growing NFBC family and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Okay, two of my Pete Rose autographed baseballs are going out to our latest NFBC signups, both coming to the Rio in Las Vegas. The Maryland tag team of Robert Jurney and Dale Spooner have signed up for the NFBC draft at the Rio. Welcome aboard guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize. And John Crane of Washington is also in the hunt for the $100,000 as he will draft in the main event in Las Vegas. Thanks for joining our very unique family guys and enjoy the baseballs.

Let's welcome our latest entrant to the NFBC draft at the Rio as JT Visco of Pennsylvania will be joining to the growing NFBC family and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.us for the main event. Let's add one more to the growing AL Auction League in New York. Glenn Schroter of New York has decided to "play two" as he was already signed up for the NFBC main draft and now will take his shot at the bidding process. Welcome to the AL Auction League, Glenn, and best of luck in the hunt for the $7,000 first prize.

We still have a couple of spots open for this AL Auction League in New York and will close it once we have 12 teams, so if you're still interested in joining this one contact me as soon as you can. Thanks.

Let's keep it rolling!!! Ft. Lauderdale's Norm Kent of WFTL 1400 AM had me on his morning radio show Wednesday to talk about the NFBC and I quickly learned that he was Roti-Stats' National Champion in 1988 and owns a Trader Jack award. The conversation quickly generated into getting Norm out to Vegas to check this out and to participate. Sure enough, two days later Norm has done just that as he is flying to Las Vegas to compete in the NFBC draft. Norm will also do a live morning radio show from Vegas on Thursday and Friday and I've even invited him to compete in the NL Auction League of our Thursday night FSTA Experts League. Welcome to the wild and crazy NFBC family, Norm, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

By the way Norm, Roti-Stats went out of the industry in 1994. You are indeed an industry veteran.

Alright, I'm back from Phoenix and ready to get more people signed up. All of the fence sitters who want to ask me questions before signing up can call me at 715-445-4612, ext. 284 as I'll be here day and night over the next seven days to take your calls. Let's get you in the NFBC.

We received a few more signups over the weekend while I was watching spring training games in Phoenix and drafting in LABR. Here's a hearty welcome to everyone who signed up last week as we received over 30 signups. Let's top that during the final week and then announce our leagues and draft positions on Monday, March 15th.

Of the weekend signups, two were for the NFBC draft in Chicago. Let's welcome Steve Kraut of Antioch, IL, whose e-mail address has the word rotator cuff in it. Hmmmm, does that mean Steve likes pitchers who have already had rotator cuff surgery or a prediction of the guys he drafts? Also competing in Chicago will be the tag team of Steve Glover and Burgess Tyler of Rolling Meadows, IL. Welcome to the NFBC guys and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Also signing up for the NFBC draft in Las Vegas is Eric Peden of Idaho. Glad to have another state represented in the NFBC. Welcome aboard Eric and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize.

Okay, now the AL Auction League in New York is getting there as two more teams will be joining us at the Javits Center. New Jersey's Pete Lukowicz, who is already drafting in the NFBC, will team up with William Robertson for one team. Let's play two, right Pete? And Buffalo's Alan Zimmerman, who talked with Pete about joining a high stakes auction league after the two were mock drafting last night, has also joined the AL Auction League. Alan will be joined at the draft table by Kristen Zimmerman. Welcome aboard and best of luck in the battle for the $7,000 first prize.

I have one person on the bubble for New York, so we have at least two spots left in the AL Auction League there. If you're serious about competing in this, contact me at 715-445-4612, ext. 284 or sign up online and we'll get you in this league. Thanks everyone.

Let's give it up for another Las Vegas signup as Matthew Berry of RotoWorld.com will represent the online fantasy baseball information site at the Rio. Matthew edged me out for an Experts NL Auction League title last year and I think I owe him a drink because of it. Welcome to the NFBC, Matthew, and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize. That's now two entries for RotoWorld.com in the NFBC draft!!

Okay, now the dedicated fantasy players are coming out to play!!! Aaron Seefeldt of Chicago is already signed up for the NFBC draft in Chicago on Saturday, March 20th, but he wants to compete in an NL Auction League so badly that he's flying to Las Vegas on Friday, March 20th to compete with Meat Loaf and the others in the NL Auction League!!! Then he's taking the red-eye back to Chicago and getting into O'Hare in time to draft on Saturday. Wow, this guy is up for a special prize from yours truly and certainly some national publicity as I know that Sports Illustrated and The Sporting News will have writers at our draft in Las Vegas. They definitely will get a chance to interview Aaron.

Good stuff and what the NFBC is made of. Thanks Aaron and best of luck in the hunt for the $100,000 grand prize in the NFBC and the $7,500 first prize in the NL Auction League.
