How are we handling signups on the NFBC side? I don't see Saturday's league visible on the Signups page, but then since it's a private league, that probably makes sense.

Hang in on that -- when there's more info Dan and or I will alert everyone via e-mail.

Same holds for the 27-man reserve draft. It's under control, we ask for everyone's patience.

Hopefully no one has issues which prevent them from auctioning tonight.

In case you find yourself one short though, I will be home and available. Doughy has my number.

Ugh, well I made the #1 mistake that absolutely can't be made in order to have a successful auction, I got caught in that bad place where you're left with far too much money to spend and not enough talent to go around.

I got too wrapped up in trying to find big discounts early on, that I missed on too much of the top talent.

Here's how the carnage turned out. I still think the team has potential, but it's obviously 1-2 top-end players away, which I should have had.

C - Jason Castro ($9)
C - Yan Gomes ($10)
1B - Ryan Howard ($5)
2B - Dustin Pedroia ($23)
SS - Starlin Castro ($13)
3B - Mike Moustakas ($3)
CI - Mark Teixeira ($7)
MI - Howie Kendrick ($11)
OF - Alex Rios ($24)
OF - Alfonso Soriano ($13)
OF - B.J. Upton ($10)
OF - Christian Yelich ($8)
OF - Angel Pagan ($6)
UTIL - Nick Swisher ($6)

SP - A.J. Burnett ($10)
SP - Marco Estrada ($11)
SP - R.A. Dickey ($9)
SP - Hiroki Kuroda ($6)
SP - Justin Masterson ($10)
SP - Francisco Liriano ($9)
SP - Rick Porcello ($20 - last player, had excess $)
RP - Greg Holland ($20)
RP - David Robertson ($15)

Was certainly a learning experience, but still very enjoyable. Thanks guys!

I'm pretty satisfied. I was much more disciplined this time. I only went $3 over my planned $80 pitching budget. I went $38 over on pitching in the last auction.

I didn't go into the draft targeting Miggy, but I have no buyer's remorse. Only one closer, but at least its Nathan and I like my starting pitchers. I would have preferred a bit more speed, but I'm excited by the power potential on this team.

C Molina, Yadier (STL) $18
C Pinto, Josmil (MIN) $2
1B Adams, Matt (STL) $11
2B Altuve, Jose (HOU) $17
SS Andrus, Elvis (TEX) $19
3B Cabrera, Miguel (DET) $46
MI Miller, Brad (SEA) $8
CI Napoli, Mike (BOS) $11
U Cabrera, Melky (TOR) $2
OF Pence, Hunter (SF) $20
OF Werth, Jayson (WSH) $13
OF Hart, Corey (SEA) $5
OF Arcia, Oswaldo (MIN) $4
OF Lake, Junior (CHC) $1
P Bumgarner, M. (SF) $24
P Nathan, Joe (DET) $17
P Cobb, Alex (TB) $15
P Corbin, Patrick (ARI) $9
P Smyly, Drew (DET) $6
P Kazmir, Scott (OAK) $4
P Ross, Tyson (SD) $4
P Gausman, Kevin (BAL) $3
P Syndergaard, Noah (NYM) $1

Thanks again to Todd and Dan for all their work bringing this together. I never would have signed up for the Auction Championship @ the Bellagio on 3/30 without getting a chance to get my feet wet again. Prior to the last couple of weeks, my first and only auction experience was a six team NL Only back in 1988.

GREAT job by Todd!! Very good group of guys! This was awesome, as a warm up for the main auctions in New York and Vegas. I left myself with 9 $1 players at the end of the draft, so depth is an issue at OF/SP, and 2B is weak, but there are a bunch of guys remaining for the reserve rounds. I am happy overall with my team. I got the top HR/Speed guys I wanted and all of my pitching were guys I targeted.

Here is my team.... Have at it :D

C - Brian McCann - $18
C - Carlos Ruiz - $4
1B - Chris Davis - $29
2B - Scooter Gennett - $1
3B - Adrian Beltre - $29
SS - Jean Segura - $24
CI - Pedro Alvarez - $15
MI - Marco Scutaro - $1
OF - Jacoby Ellsbury - $28
OF - Michael Cuddyer - $14
OF - Marlon Byrd- $1
OF - Lorenzo Cain - $1
OF - Nick Castellanos - $1
DH - Trevor Plouffe - $1
SP - Chris Sale - $24
SP - Michael Wacha - $18
SP - Matt Moore - $11
SP - Jarrod Parker - $4
SP - Henderson Alvarez - $1
SP - Miguel Gonzalez - $1
CL - Craig Kimbrel - $24
CL - Bobby Parnell - $9
CL - Chad Qualls - $1

Nice team as always alan. How long diid this take to complete?

Yah mule. Really think you needed an another ace.but like the team otherwise

Likewhat-your team needs pitching help and yeah too much money at end not a good thing.

These are relatively practice drafts tho and sounds like you all had fun

I really appreciated those in the 2/7 draft who posted their teams. It helped with settling some valuation questions. So paying it forward to the next group.

C Posey (25)
C Montero (8)
1B Craig (19)
2B Wong (2)
SS Hardy (8)
3B Lawrie (13)
CI Asche (1)
MI Mercer (1)
UT Butler (14)
OF Puig (27)
OF B.Hamilton (19)
OF J.Hamilton (17)
OF Brown (11)
OF Fowler (6)
P Scherzer (25)
P Sanchez (17)
P Straily (5)
P Colon (4)
P Tillman (4)
P Peavy (3)
P E.Santana (3)
CL Chapman (22)
CL Hunter (6)

76er, the draft took six hours again. Todd remarked at the end that this must be just how long one of these is gonna take.

Thanks fozzie. I am back at it wednesday night so it will be a one am festivity for sure

If u find a third guy for saves thru slow draft/faab. I like your team a lot. I like straily so I think your sp could be good enough. Good value late with peavy and santana.

Offense is strong

I didn't mention it the first time I saw someone say FAAB but after seeing it a 2nd time I think it's best to remind everyone this is a no pickups league after the 27 round reserve draft.

This would make it a no FAAB draft and team.

Six hours - same as the first one.

There were some tech issues - even with Chrome this time.

Take out the tech issues and leave in a couple breaks and we're looking at between 5 and 5 1/2 hours. Pretty much the same as the live ones.

First off, thanks to Todd and Dan for facilitating this. They did a great job and everything ran smoothly. Really, really fun. Great group of guys to auction with.

I've never done a pure auction league before, this was my first. Any feedback on the results, constructive or otherwise, is welcome.

C - W. Castillo $4
C - R. Martin $4
1B - E. Encarnacion $29
2B - J. Kipnis $28
SS - J. Lowrie $9
3B - M. Machado $11
CI - A. Dunn $3
MI - A. Rendon $10
U - J. Peralta $4
OF - A. McCutchen $36
OF - Y. Cespedes $18
OF - S. Victorino $11
OF - B. Revere $8
OF - J. Reddick $6

SP - J. Verlander $22
SP - M. Latos $15
SP - M. Garza $5
SP - I. Nova $2
SP - T. Hudson $2
SP - A. Bradley $1
CL - C. Janssen $10
CL - H. Street $11
CL - E. Frieri $11

Two stray observations:
- Towards the end I had a bit too much money for the amt of talent available, which resulted in Revere for $8 (2nd to last roster spot for me) and to a lesser degree Street for $11
- Johnny Peralta is on my team due to operator error, kinda (had a few beers and started bidding on guys I didn't want but thought should cost more, got stuck with Peralta when it wasn't my intent, stopped bidding on guys I didn't want after that)

I think you got stellar value on those closers, especially Janssen.

The Peralta snafu was an example of the perils of price enforcement.

I made a mistake by throwing Syndergaard out there for a dollar to the sound of crickets. At the time I was trying to conserve some money and I figured that people would bid on Noah or I would be happy to roster him for $1. And I was happy at the time, but as I filled out my pitching staff at the end, I saw several pitchers I would have preferred still available. So I wound up with a player I like this year, but I felt like a misused my resources. Even if it was only a buck, it was also a roster spot that could have been put to better use. Collins says it "conceivable" Noah begins the season the rotation, but I won't hold my breath.

Hey, I asked you to join the party on several occasions, but you didn't listen.. :D Either way, I think you did a good job with the "middle of the road" draft that has won many titles in the past. Good luck!!

Some injury concerns at the top of the rotation, otherwise a really solid auction! Should be a real close competition. Good luck!

I got the email about the draft. I went to join and it's asking for Account ID. Is there a special ID to join this draft? Is it forthcoming? I'm signed up for the 02/19 draft. Any help/instructions now would help me so I'm not holding up the draft on Wednesday night. If I missed the instructions within this 16 page blog, I apologize.
