Is this a general "we'll see you" or are you going to be monitoring this one Greg? I'm expecting a thrill ride. Might be fun to watch, I dunno.

Cheers!
Chris, someone is always on hand for these online drafts. Either Tom or I will be there to monitor this draft with a beer in hand. See you there.

One day, about 7 years ago, I was looking for a more challenging fantasy baseball league, after dominating my home league and CBS sportsline. I stumbled over the NFBC and joined a live draft in New York City. For 4 seasons, I got schooled... finishing in the bottom 3 in nearly every league I joined. I finished in 3rd place in one auction league and I felt like I won the lottery. I was humbled time and time again. In my 3rd year, I came on the message boards to post my team in the "post your team" thread, after the draft, thinking I had done well. I was slammed with critique and took it like a man. No excuses, just listened and learned. I believe someone responded to my team (I think it was Mark), saying it was awful and had no chance to win... and the fact was, my team was awful and had no chance to win.

In my 5th year, I won my first NFBC league and last year, I won the overall auction championship. I say this not to brag, but humbled to the reality that I am competing against the best and I could finish in last place, in this year's overall. That is how good the players are in these leagues.

What I am trying to say is, I have never seen a newcomer come on the scene and be such an **** as Deadheadz. I never minded people talking trash, if they have accomplished something to warrant it. I never cared that people were critical of my drafting or my team, if they had accomplished something to warrant it. It took me 5 years to win my first league. Maybe it is because I am not as good as I think or maybe it is because these are the best players in the country, playing on this site. Either way, DH, maybe someday you will understand what I am trying to tell you, or maybe you will continue to be an ****.

One word of advise, maybe you should talk a little less and take some advice. I am actually trying to help. Really.

Good luck tomorrow!!

This free advice comes from the guy who freely calls others "idiot" on chat during the draft. And not just me.

You're a really classy guy Alan.

I don't know u deadhead but I had the pleasure of meeting Alan and his son in NYC last year. Alan is as classy a guy as you'll ever meet and getting into a pissing match with him is just plain wrong. I read the board almost every day and I must say your comments are not well received by me. I don't know you as we haven't met but word to the wise as Alan said less talking and more listening and learning would be well advised. Good luck to you but you're not making many friends from the outset. Alan won an overall championship last year and that deserves respect, especially from someone who is new and has accomplished nothing.

Rest easy Alan, I won't say a word during the draft Friday. But on the forum message boards it's not appropriate for you to say I don't have the right to speak my mind (as small a mind as you believe I have).

It always amazes me how certain Americans like to tell others to keep quiet despite living in a country where one of the most prized freedoms is the freedom of speech.

Keep your advice for others. I value it not.

We have to tell people to shut it because there are no rules against it, hoser. ;)

Now zip it and start getting that SS list ready!

It's true.
The freedom of speech to say 'shut up' is just as vital, probably more vital, as making an ass out of one's self in using freedom of speech...

I agree, believe it or not.

You're welcome to say it. Just don't believe you have the right to enforce it.

If there weren't characters (like Gekko) and friction and all the drafters were the same, it would be a hell of a boring draft.

Expect sparks, expect forum fodder.

This is one huge reason NFBC is miles ahead of any other fantasy baseball service.

I would have loved to be in this draft. Already looks fun and full of smart, witty sharks. Just curious Tom, why not go down list with email or a call. I know a last second cancelation has you running around and this was easiest, just curious on the reasoning is all. I'm not mad at all that you did it this way, just a little jealous I won't get to play is all. Check email often and the boards often enough, I guess I should blame wolf on wall street for being a 3 hour movie. That's the real enemy on why I was slow in trying to grab the last second spot tonight. Enjoy guys, looks like it will be a blast tonight.

That's what they did. I was bumped for a team on the waiting list.
