Then the answer for that contest is to end it 8 days earlier. Got it.

Sorry Greg for jumping in, to end the contest before the games start is the best solution.

One question though that this brought up for me. For the live events, these winning pitchers will be write-ins if middle relievers - will the projection screen allow for write-in stickers that could happen for these possible obscure wins?

Well, the data base of available players is the same for the live draft board as it is for online leagues now. If some obscure pitcher does get a win or save we'll know to put him in the system right after that game. But most everyone should be in there. At the very least, we just pick Placeholder to fill in before we add the very, very obscure player. This board works the same as our player selection for online leagues, so I don't see a problem here. In fact, it will be much easier than writing in the name on a blank sticker.

The live draft board is done now and after a player is picked a large sticker with the player's photo and name will appear on the screen for 10 seconds. Everyone should have no trouble seeing who was just picked. Then that big sticker will go away and the big board will remain on the screen until the next pick, with the clock starting at 60 seconds. So basically there will be 70 seconds from the time the pick is entered online until the clock runs down. I hope this helps.

Online Championship drafters can have a choice of choosing before or after those games. Thousands of Draft Championship drafters don't get that choice.
If Joe Schmo wins a game and is taken in the 50th round by 3 drafters who are still drafting, it would be not be fair to the previous 200 (?) leagues.

Is that goal for the DC contest? All to be completed by the 22nd?

Yes, it does. Thanks Greg.

This is a question for Greg or Tom or any NFBC historian who would like to answer. Has anybody ever punted a category on draft day or at an auction and taken a decent run at one of the overall championships?

An overall Auction Championship was won 3 years ago (I believe) by punting saves.

No, we can not change that for this year. The end date for all DCs is March 30th as stated previously. It's Dan's suggestion to end the DCs 8 days earlier.

Jeff is right. Richard Gordon won the Auction Championship three years ago punting saves. With only 135 teams, it's more likely to succeed doing that in the Main Event where there are 400 or more teams.

Thanks. I never punt on draft day, but I was curious if it was even viable in an overall contest. I would imagine the margin of error there is pretty narrow.

Okay, I'm opening up this B.S./Question thread for the rest of the day. We miss interacting with you folks and since Tom is now one day into his fourth or fifth decade alive, this is as good a place as any for someone to ask him what he did on the night of his birthday. Go ahead, ask away!! ;)

Let's have some chatter before we go home for the weekend. Let's talk baseball, weather, age, injuries, rankings, draft boards, anything you've got yet tonight. This Chat Room is open for business. Bring it on!!!

Will you be offering 14 team leagues with streaming pitching and faab list slide down/up capability ? :D

I think as posed this question will fall under the B.S. heading. ;) What the King is trying to ask is how is the new FAAB shaping up? I know we ask a lot but those with multiple teams are very anxious in this area, especially if we're stretching the number of teams we're committed too based on some improvements.

Inquiring minds really need to know. 8-)

I am on the fence about another team or 2 and this entire faab situation could help make my mind up for me :D

True. As of last year, FAAB was a doubleheader for me...

Punting saves only on draft day or all season long? Did the team get only 1 point in their league's Save category?

I thought I posted this yesterday, but maybe it was just an email response. Yeah, it was. Sorry.

I was in Chicago for meetings with IT and they feel it will be done for the first FAAB. We went over everything and I feel it will be a big improvement. It's not finished yet, but it's Priority 1 now that the live draft boards are finished and I think it's going to get done.

That being said, Live Scoring was also talked about and we have agreed to update that with column stats broken up offensively and pitching after we finish FAAB. Live Scoring will be exactly as it was last year from an appearance standpoint, but we have figured out a way to make it faster. Once FAAB is done and steady, Live Scoring changes will be next.

But FAAB is being worked on as requested and everyone feels confident it will save time for everyone.

The proof will be in the pudding and it's on us to perform, but we want to save you time on FAAB and that's the goal. We don't want to hear that people are leaving our contest or cutting back on the number of teams because of FAAB. I hate FAAB too, but if we can make that part of the game easier for you then we all win. That's been a top priority of ours as we've stated since the end of the season. Now it's on us to finish what all of you requested. Hopefully moving FAAB back to 10 pm ET will help some folks too.

Just curious Greg, how we looking on the new FAAB setup. I know we ask a lot, but minute by minute updates would be greatly appreciated. ;) :P

I didn't say it was. But improving the technical features and giving more time to some (I know you liked the deadline earlier) was a combination that SHOULD help most people deal with FAAB. We'll see.
