and is it likely the Cubs wait a while on Baez, Bryant?
If the Mets hold true to form, they wait till at least mid-year to bring up anybody. That's what they did with Harvey, then Wheeler.

Baez is big-league ready with his bat, but not with his glove. Bryant just isn't ready. Neither one until mid-year, maybe not Bryant at all this year, if they try and hold back his service-time clock.

Bryant is 21 or 22 already isn't he? He's at AA and producing. I could see midseason if he does well. Not at all if he struggles.

****EDIT ALERT****
and if the LAD outfield wasn't so crowded Joc Pederson would be up by now for sure.
The problem with Bryant is finding a place to play him - he is not ML ready at third base and the plans were to introduce him to RF this year to see if he could handle that. IF (yeah capital I/F) Castro is fine at SS then Baez is most likely headed for 3B (has been playing some 2B but with Bonifacio and Alcantara much better defensively that would be a last resort)

I think hes up soon Wayne, maybe another week. Correria will be up too, probably end of June, maybe even sooner.... Astros may just give them all the rest of this year in the bigs to get experience... Villar has been brutal so far with the Bat as have been Krauss and Carter.... a lot of fan heat on them to get moving with their prospects.[/quote]

No way they bring up Correia this year. At best he gets to AAA this season. I could be wrong, but that is the pulse around MMP.

all part of the spec game, you could very well be right. But, if Villar went down with a injury, I bet the FAAB dollars go nuts over Correia if hes available.

Agreed Dusty. He's only 19 and he's only in Hi-A right now. They don't need to rush him to the majors to prove anything. Jonathan Singleton seems like the next significant promotion for this franchise. He has little more to prove at Triple-A.

Kudos to the Astros for bringing up Springer now. Let's see what he can do and what he can do for this franchise. He's not the savior, but he is a big part of this rebuilding plan and a big one at that. I can't wait to see him play.

A really good question, Wayne. It's obvious now that the Astros will sometimes grant super-two status to their prospects. If they would do it for Springer, why not Singleton?

I guess it comes down to how big a deal his marijuana problem is. What do you think is going to happen with him?

Singleton was also terrible last year, so it wouldn't hurt to let him crush AAA for a while. Not like the Astros are in the playoff hunt.

Archie Bradley 4.1ip 7 hits 4 er 2BB 4K = last night's line score against Las Vegas. Not exactly knocking down the door...

just joking around here. In reality, his teammates love him, his manager loves him. Takes one running full speed into the wall for the team to preserve the win. It might be hard for Pittsburg to rid themselves of Tabata right after that.

Jim Callis and Jonathon Mayo over at MLB.com are now debating whether Archie Bradley or Gregory Polanco should get called up first. Could it be they browse over here to get ideas? Here is a link if you are interested:

I saw something rather stunning yesterday. 24 of the first 25 scheduled starting pitchers facing the Pirates this year are right-handed. That is, of course, because of the decidedly right-handedness of the Pirates' lineup and opposing manager's unwillingness to throw leftys against them.

Don't think that Pirates' management hasn't noticed. It probably had a lot to do with the Ike Davis trade. Sprinkling in Ike and Gregory into that lineup would likely go a long ways to getting a few leftys for Cutch, Marte and the rest of the gang to face.

Now I'm going to admit to some rose-colored bias here brought on by wishful thinking and owning Polanco on about half my teams. But how could the Buccos not call up Polanco now that have control of him for the next seven years? It's only cost about $3 million dollars a year over four annual payments with installments not starting until 2017.

I think (hope) we see Gregory Polanco called up this week.

If not, the Pirates will be really short-changing their fans as they likely wait until June. In that case, I hope they don't miss out on the playoffs by a game or two.
