I may have jumped the gun here as we have 13 for the $1,250 and two for the $650. Shawn hasn't jumped in yet and there still may be time for him to do that. I think we can fill the $1,250 league up and we'll shoot for a $650 league as well. Thirteen owners who did the $650 Mixed Auction League in New York last year still haven't signed up, so the demand is out there.

Awesome job everyone.

I'll check our price guides to see what that GG autograph is worth. The Michael Douglas Gordon Gekko autograph on a baseball is going for $750. Not sure what yours is worth! :D

Greg,

What incentive offer did you have for a hat trick (main event league win, auction win and ultamite win?)

Thought I heard something about it somewhere, and although Eddie G seems like the frontrunner, I want to make sure I know what to expect when I take down Gekko and company over and over and yes, over a third time!!! :D

I liked it a lot and will offer it in baseball. Let me find the details and promote the hell out of it!!

Greg,

I apologize. I thought it was baseball, but you are correct. It is a very good idea. :D

I was just trying to egg on some of the other owners and help fill the league!

7. Gordon Gekko, York, Pennsylvania (wants to do $1,250)

8. James Tinik, Neptune, New Jersey (wants to do $1,250)

9. George Acunto, Yapink, New York (wants to do $1,250)

10. David Martino, Melville, New York (wants to do $650)

11. R.T. Davis, Counsell Grove, Kansas (wants to do $1,250)

12. David Zwickel, New York City ($1,250)

The $1,250 Mixed Auction League is officially full with the 15 owners above. David Martino and Mark DiMondo agreed to move up to $1,250 to compete with this group. We have one owner on reserve if needed, but this is our group for Friday, March 16th and it's a prominent set of owners. This one would be worth the price of admission to watch!! :D

Anyone willing to handicap the results? I would be if this was the $650 league, but I think people are going to bring their A game to this league and I don't know many of the names...

We are glad to fill up the league. It should be a fun draft. I can't wait for warmer weather and spring training boxscores.

Does anyone know the payout amounts and how many places get paid out in the league? I know we have 15 guys for $1,250 for $18,750 without expenses of stats and stuff...thanks!

Spyhunter - I agree, people will all bring their A game, which will make this difficult to handicap the second and third place winners.

But seriously, I would think or at least hope people bring their A game to every draft, whether this league or $100 satellite or ultamite draft.

I have heard some do not for smaller satellites like $100 leagues, but I don't totally agree with that. I am in a couple, so it would be great if they didn't, but I just don't see it.

Anyway, just checking in to see if others have an opinion on "tanking" low entry fee leagues to determine where players get drafted?

Spy - sorry to spin your post, I know it's not what you were implying, but it brought me back to previous posts where an underlying message could me misconstrued or at least somewhat twisted.

Anyway - good luck all. Should be a great league!

Poopytooth, my experience has been that people do play much more aggressively (i.e. pick pitchers or prospects much earlier) in things like the $100 satellite than they would in the main event or the $1250 leagues. Some of the most favorite people also won't draft their 'super sleeper'...

The reason for my comment was slightly different, I have played in the $650 twice and know that I have the skill level to compete and win. Since I haven't played the $1250 auction, I dont know yet if the level of player is any different. I am really looking forward this actually as my favorite event over the main event as I personally believe Auctions are the best way to see who is the most talented manager

Regards,

Spy

I agree spyhunter. I have been doing auctions for 15+ years and these types of drafts are much more difficult than straight snake drafts.
