THE NFBC IS SOLD OUT FOR THE MAIN EVENT!!

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Feb 21, 2008 10:26 am

We now have 56 owners for the main event in Chicago, which leaves us with four more spots until we fill up a fourth full league. I don't want to close off Chicago after that, but I also would like to have perfect 15-team leagues in each city and thus may consider that. It would be too tough to fill up another full league there, although obviously we could hook up folks with other cities via teleconference.

If you're planning to compete in Chicago's main event and want one of these final spots in a full league, let me know as I'd hate to leave anyone out. Thanks all and Chicago is back on track to equal or surpass last year's total.

THREE GUARANTEED SPOTS left for the main event in Chicago as we now have 57 owners there for the big dance. Welcome aboard Pat Sorge of Schaumburg, Illinois as he just called me up on the old rotary phone here because our e-mail is down!! :D We're definitely going to fill up this fourth league in the Windy City and then we'll see if we can fill up the other cities perfectly as well. Thanks all.

Okay, get ready for the last minute rush of signups to begin as we're on a roll this morning. Our friends at Fanball.com are diving all in for the NFBC as the writing team at Fanball.com is providing more baseball coverage than ever before. That writing team and the writing team at RotoTimes.com has just grabbed four teams for the main event in Las Vegas as we are now making a strong push for 10 full leagues in Las Vegas. Ryan Houston, Mike Sheets, Ray Flowers and Ted Carlson will all be heading up teams in Las Vegas, bringing us to over 340 paid signups for the big dance. And we're adding more New York teams now too, so hang onto your hats.

I feel the LOVE today even though I don't have e-mail!!! :D Can you feel it with me? Thanks Fanball.com and let's fill this baby up.

Look out, we're on a roll today. We have another signup for the live main draft in Orlando and two more signups are coming soon to the Sunshine State. This is falling into place nicely, so keep the signups coming.

Come on New York, keep up!!! Let's see some Big Apple signups from last year's participants!!! :D

I love it when a plan comes together. Can you see it? ;)

We've added three more main event teams in Orlando today with all three owners ready, willing and eager to draft live with us in the Sunshine State. That leaves us with only SEVEN SPOTS LEFT IN ORLANDO for three full leagues. We will cap it at three leagues in Orlando and be ecstatic with our first year there.

We now have 23 full leagues for the main event and over 345 signups, leaving us with LESS THAN 45 SPOTS until 390. It's very possible that we could finish like this:

LV: 10 full leagues

NY: 9-10 full leagues

CHI: 4 full leagues

ORL: 3 full leagues

That's the goal, so don't wait too long to sign up. I'd hate to leave anyone out, but those who snooze this year could lose out. Thanks all and let's fill this one up.

We're now at 111 teams in New York for the main event. I KNOW we can get nine full leagues in the Big Apple as we had that many there last year. The last two weeks always produce strong signups for New York and let's make it happen again this year. There's a lot of teams from last year still not officially signed up for 2008, so get in now if you want a spot this year. These final 43 spots are going to go soon.

Philip McDonald has made the wise move to go south rather than north for the NFBC this year, so he's moving his registration for the main event from Chicago to Orlando. That means we have 39 owners now in Orlando, leaving us with SIX OPEN SPOTS THERE. Let's close that out with three full leagues.

Philip is also signed up for the $650 Mixed Auction League, so we now have nine owners for that event in Orlando and nine in Chicago. We have some work to do in both cities, but let's do it.

ORLANDO: 6 spots

Can we do it? ;)

Greg, I have a question that you may have already answered, so forgive me if I'm being redundant. Anyways, I realize the slotting of leagues is all arbitrary, but if certain cities don't fill out, are the last signups put into the "mixed city-teleconference" league or could it be that someone who registered a while ago could end up in that slot?

Thanks.

Thanks. The rules state that I have the option to slot some of the last signups into the teleconference league. Let's see how this plays out and then trust in me that I'll do the right thing with each city. Obviously, I can't put four guys who just signed up at the last minute and know each other in the same league as it could cause troubles for that league and the overall contest, so I have to be smart and considerate of the early-bird signups at the same time.

[/QUOTE]Greg - I agree with you. Having a pool of last minute signups be in the same league (telephone) isn't ideal for the contest.

just a suggestion, maybe for next year...this could spur early signups too!

Anyone signing up AFTER a certain date (let's say Jan 1st for example) can be slotted into a telephone league.

My bad. I didn't clarify. I didn't mean the last people to sing up per se. I meant the people that signed up later, after a certain date. It just seems "unfair" for someone to sign up early, and then be put in a teleconference/mixed city league.

But I do trust that Greg and Tom will indeed to what's fair and best for the NFBC as a whole.

Thanks.

I quick word on the "teleconference leagues". I've been in 2. It's no big deal if you're in the city with 10-12 teams at the table and a few on phone lines as I have been. The live drat feeling is the same. It's barely noticeable besides having some extra room at the table to spread out. On the other hand, I guess it doesn't feel the same if you're sitting at a table with 2 or 3 other owners listening to a draft on the phone.
