Until he can or until he trusts he can throw his slider, he's going to get shelled. Minors or majors. Brutal.

It's tough coming back from Tommy John, how many months has it been? 17? Usually takes 18 to full recover. He'll be fine. Trust me. ;) sorry crazy, liriano is a ZERO this year. i don't think you should trust yourself in this case.

missing on one early player likely ruins an owners chance at the 100K. i swung and missed on this one. everyone will be seeing liriano in the free agent pool earlier than they thought.
I can't speak for years prior to 2007, but I believe last year's 100K winner, Fat Tub of Goo, had 2 or 3 complete bust picks in his top 10 picks. The only one I recall off the top of my head was his 5th rd pick - Rocco Baldelli. Totally frustrating for you, Gekko , but it's not like last year's winner didn't make mistakes with his first 10 picks.

Hey I've had my own issues- I've been without 3 of my top 5 picks for the last 2 weeks (one of them all year - Kazmir) and I have still managed to surge up the rankings...

Besides, you got Cliff Lee in free agency right?

the difference between the person who finishes 50th this year and the person who finishes 20th will be ONE player.

i just missed my one player. too bad for me.

btw, having cliff lee or any free agent doesn't give you a pass on missing any of your draft picks. you need a GREAT draft and GREAT FAAB to win this thing.

No Cliff Lee for Mr Gekko -- I got him for $76 in NY 3. and I'll ride that Cy young candidate for a little respect. Thanks CC's Desperado's for that insight on Cliff Lee.

I couldnt believe Childs got him that cheap, kinda pissed me off that no one made at least a triple-digit bid for him - I am tracking both Childs and GG this season as benchmark teams that I need to beat - that looked like a big boost for CC when it happened. He was N/A in LV3.

Unless I’m offcourse here cliff lee is a 29 year old NEVER HAVE BEEN. It’s not like he’s a youngster who has been overmatched and is now experienced enough to knock some heads. He’s been an average pitcher who was even pitching in the minors last year. Enjoy the freebie while it lasts. He could be this year’s Guthrie.

If duke, childs, or child’s puppet thinks he is worth a big bid, obviously they aren’t using logic to make their decision.

And btw I wouldn't track yourself against me, I’m the person who will play this year without an 8th round pick. If people can’t beat me with that headstart, they should rethink how good they are.

My ninth round pick has pitched 3 (very bad) innings so far and won't pitch again for awhile, my 2nd and 4th round picks have been beyond horrible and my 11th round pick is wasting away in middle relief. I still intend to win, as I'm sure you do even as you drop your 8th rounder this weekend.

Logic says he is pitching great right now. Right now is good enough sometimes, and at times a decent roll turns into a career year.

Let's not forget Cliff Lee has only faced Oak, Oak, Min, and KC.

Not exactly powerhouse offenses.

Later I'll be toasting to Liriano being sent down, as opposed to DL'd! ;)
In a "Momma Poppa" league.

My wink is in reference to a side bet with Duke.

DL's hurt me, but benchings and demotions don't.

When eddiejag drops him in LV this week, I'll most likely throw a bid in for him.
good point. Don't get me wrong, I feel I really missed out on Cliff Lee and yes 1 player is all it takes here or there. You would know better than me since you finished in the top 10 last year...

I wonder if Fat Tub of Goo made any mistakes last year yet still won...I have no idea but just wonder how good/lucky you have to be.

a lot of pitchers bounce back from TJS and are almost back to their original form within 16 months of the surgery.

even if lirinao was almost back to HIS ORIGINAL form, that would still make him a good pitcher.

BUT NOT LIRIANO..NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!HE'S A COMPLETE BUST. A SHELL OF HIS FORMER SELF.

ANYONE HAVING HIM CAN KISS THEIR SEASON GOODBYE. MAKES ALL THOSE HOURS OF PREP REALLY FEEL WORTH IT, EH? DUMBASS ME LOOKING AT THE WRONG DATA TO MAKE MY LIRIANO PICK. WITH AS GOOD AS I THING I AM, THIS IS 100% INEXCUSABLE. WITH THE PERFECTIONIST THAT I AM, IT MAKES ME WANT TO QUIT RIGHT NOW. SERIOUSLY.

OH YA...LIRIANO told the coaching staff after his latest start that he had lost the confidence to throw strikes. no confidence and a bum pitcher. great combo.

BYE BYE LIRIANO.

Basically broke what 24 years of experience taught me and that is stay away from pitchers that have arm injuries (unless they are cheap in a keeper league) and never, never, never draft rookie pitchers. Always pays to take guys that no one wants like the Lee's, Wangs, Lowes and Hudsons of the world. Not going to hit lightening in a bottle with them, but they are usually solid. Liriano in reality was no better than a 20 round pick. The problem with playing with experts is that if you wanted him, you have to go out on a limb and take him around pick 100 and this is a possible consequence.

Same way I feel about Tutolowlouski. very nice player for round 6, but when he's going round 2, I just don't see it? I'd rather have Michael Young, Furcal or Tejada much later. A great half year does not a superstar make. Sometimes yes, but the majority times, not IMHO

It really is roto 101 and you experienced guys, experts at this, know it's fact.

FUDD anyone taking liriano BECAUSE THEY WANTED HIM needs to go back to Roto 101. i only need to take some computer classes :D
