Really? its funny you can't admit he was a better pick than about a dozen guys ahead of him even when its right in front of you ... and I popped the wine cork about an hour after.
If you hear he will be getting season ending surgery tomorrow, will he still be better? The only thing that is in front of my face is that he is hurt which was my central concern with him. If we get to the end of the season and he has better numbers then he will have been better, no excuses, but for right now, you should be more concerned that he even starts another game this year.
Also, don't argue to me about other pitchers. As far as you know he was 3rd on my depth chart. I drafted two pitchers in front of him. One will be better at season's end and the other will probably be so if you are addressing me, please restrict your comments to those two pitchers. There were about nine other pitchers you mentioned that were on my 'do not touch for fear of breaking' list.

1. standard bid has been reduced to $1. it's not like my bids are even being opposed. go figure.
2. agressive bid is now $3.
with that said, this week i'm likely standing pat. i just don't have anyone to drop. if i drop someone currently on my bench, i KNOW i'm losing him for the season, as i'll never get him back. IF liriano comes up for saturday's start, i may drop one of my SP. big IF though.

btw, there is not a site (either baseball or football) that i would trust more than MY research/projections/etc. sometimes you can pick it little pieces of info here and there, but at the level i think i'm operating at, websites can only slow me down and feed me misinformation/research. My venting is really targeting at the websites I know will be gloating over Z being hurt tomorrow, and crowing how they were right while they say nothing of the dozen busts that were taken ahead of him that they all loved.
No gloating here. After all, I'm a John Lackey owner in this contest.

Rd 7-2 A.J. Burnett SP Big Alameda Machine
Rd 7-3 Carlos Zambrano SP Zefurs
AJ Burnett = ERA 5.42, WHIP 1.50+
Is he hurt too, bad luck, or does he just plain suck?

I just said he'd probably end up better than Zambrano, There are a litany of things wrong with him that are mostly his team's fault, but that I should have also done a better job of anticipating. Not sure if there was a way to know they'd ride him this hard, but that is really the biggest problem right now.

...and another thing...
ONE ERROR...sure...Gavin would have gotten out of the inning...but you better believe that SOME of those 7 runs HE ALLOWED were earned!
To keep allowing a ton of runs to be scored simply because of one error is a joke.
Cap it at 4 (a grand slam), after four...they become earned again.

I cant believe how bad AJ Burnett has been.Just took a look at the next 5 pitchers taken after Burnett in our main draft, Zambrano,Oswalt,R Hill,J Shields, and Gallarado.A couple of land minds for sure , i like Shields from this list and he was my pick. With TAMPA BAY now winning he has a little more value.Speaking of pitching Liriano has been very good of late and should be up soon. YES.

I think a lot of people said to me in March that I shouldn't be reaching for Burnett when I could just take one of these other guys. I may have been wrong on my guy but this is why I didn't want one of these other guys.

Actually im not singling anyone out , just joining in on the conversation about Zambrano and Burnett.
Its funny how you look back and see your mistakes.Im just hoping Liriano can give my team some value.
Lincecum was the steal in round 9 pick 9 , i was two pick's away and had to go with Ted Lilly who was brutal early but much better of late.Cutting Slowey was my biggest mistake but thought i could get him back the following week considering he was injured.I bid 10 but Latham bid 11 then he got cut again but KJ Duke bid over 60 and he's gone till next year.
Got to love it.

From the chi trib:
At the end of his pre-game news conference, Piniella brought up the report on his own, even though he said he had not read it.
"I don't where all this stuff came from, but I'll tell you this—Larry Rothschild told me yesterday he had the best throw day he had all year," Piniella said. "So, physically, there's nothing wrong."
So he's not concerned about Zambrano's shoulder?
"What did I just say?" Piniella said. "There never has been any concern. There never even has been any question of concern. Nothing. I'm more concerned about my shoulder than I am his."
How is Lou's shoulder?
"That's what I'm trying to tell you," he said. "I'm more concerned about mine than his. There's nothing wrong with mine."
Zambrano acknowledged he had a stiff neck when he last pitched, but said it had nothing to do with his shoulder. The Cubs trainers are not monitoring his shoulder at all.
"I'm not hurt, I'm not hurt," Zambrano yelled across the clubhouse as reporters converged on his locker. "I feel good. There's nothing wrong with my shoulder."
Hope that clears that up.

Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano has a minor strain of his pitching shoulder, an encouraging result from Friday's medical test, but is still likely to miss his next start Tuesday. From the Cubs website, today. Why do pitchers who are fine miss starts?

Okay, I am officially done busting on other people's pitching because mine is ****ing horse**** the last couple weeks.
Does anybody remember the days when a pitcher would give up 8 runs and the manager would say, "Okay, he doesn't have it today. I'm going to pull him."? Now it is every guy 100-110 pitches no matter what. They'll let them give up 50 runs if they can do it in under 100 pitches. ****ing ridiculous.

To the first taker I trust...
I'll bet $500 to win or lose $500 that Cliff Lee has an ERA of over 3.40 at seasons end.
Even if he shuts it down tomorrow...the bet stands.
Nothing voids bet.
He finished this season with an ERA under 3.40...you win...over 3.40...I win...exactly 3.40...push.
