Luis Castillo: There is no one still with the Mets, whom the fans love to hate more then Castillo. He came to the Mets in late 2007 for the stretch run and posted nice numbers across the board for both the Twins and the MEts, with OBP over 360, 300 BA and almost 20 steals and 90+ runs.
Last year Castillo got an inflated contract for 4 years and became the posterboy for bad signings. He came to camp out of shape, and played with bad knees all year. Still Castillo managed 17 SBs and an OBP over 350.
With the fans and media calling for his scalp, the MEts benched Luis in August and Sept for the stretch run, in favor of has beens and never will bes like Argenis REyes.
The Mets have not mae any real attempts to replace Castillo. He has claimed that he is rededicated to earning his contract dollars and supposedly is in better shape.
Castillo bats betwenn Reyes and Wright, a VERY cozy spot in front of Beltran and Delgado as well. With his OBP, he should score 100 runs even if he bats 250. If he stays healthy, 285 3 45 with 20+ steals and 100 runs is within his reach. Best of all, Castillo is going in the mid-to-late 20's, making him a dirt cheap source of steals and runs, who could also help out in average.
This is not a super sexy sleeper, but the kind who can help with late, late speed and runs, and possibly a tad (just a tad)of upside in that order.
Sounds good. Thanks for giving us the opportunity to have something we wrote actually published in a nationally distributed magazine. Can't wait until the mag comes out.
Just a wild guess here, Gekko sent you 15 of the 20 sleepers.

Looking For Top 20 Sleepers
The Top 20 Sleepers story for our second issue of Fantasy Sports Magazine is done and looks very good. Thanks to all of our NFBC veterans for submitting entries and to those owners whose picks made the cut.
Tom and I each picked out one sleeper after we had 18 good ones to add to the story. Here's a look at our picks and the writeups that go with it:
9. John Maine, SP, New York Mets
A shoulder injury derailed Maine’s season in the second half last year, preventing him from building upon the success he enjoyed in 2007 when he went 15-10 with a 3.91 ERA and 181 strikeouts in 191 innings. When healthy, he has standout stuff, although his WHIP (1.27 in 2007 and 1.35 last year) has been a bit unsightly. The good news is you can grab him late (he went in the 16th round of the 15-team NFBC draft in this issue) and that makes him a strong value pick given his talent and win potential. If Maine stays healthy, 15-17 wins is very possible this season.
Tom Kessenich
11. Adam Jones, OF, Seattle
Jones showed some promise during his first season with Baltimore and now is looking forward to bigger things...in a number of ways. He worked out in Arizona this off-season and put on 25 pounds of muscle. He went from 210 to 235 and could provide more pop to the Orioles’ lineup. Just 23, Jones hit .281-5-41 with eight stolen bases through the All-Star break and was on a tear from July 1 through the end of July when he fractured a bone in his foot. He hit .302-5-31 with four stolen bases during that stretch and proved he’s ready to settle in as a solid player at the top of this lineup. In 2007 at Triple-A Tacoma, the 2003 first round pick hit .314-25-84 and soon could develop into a 20-HR, 15-SB threat. If the extra muscle leads to extra power, Jones could be a very pleasant pickup where he’s going in drafts now (after the Top 200).

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Greg Ambrosius Nice picks. I definitely see up arrows for Adam Jones and John Maine can be very good if he can stay healthy.
When's the 2nd mag coming out on newsstands?
The second issue should be to subscribers by around March 1st and on newsstands around March 8th. Hanley Ramirez is on the cover. All early-bird signups who received three magazines in the mail already will get this one and Fanball's Just Cheat Sheets in the mail in early March.

Stan If you were an early-bird signup (before Jan. 1) and didn't get the three magazines sent to you and want them before Draft Day, e-mail me your name and address to . I can forward that to circulation and get them mailed out soon.
