2005 NFBC Roll Call

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Mar 03, 2005 4:52 pm

Okay, the Eagle has landed in Phoenix and I'm just now going through all of my e-mails and phone messages. I don't have any online signups to add to the list at this point, but we should be down to 17 open spots for the main event as Justin Esposito has said he will be returning this year to the New York event. He drafted with Dyv in Las Vegas last year and is grabbing his own team this year. I have two other returning members that I just need to finalize yet, both likely in New York, and hopefully one more. So we're getting there.

There's also more interest in the auction leagues today. I have one for the AL or NL $650 in Chicago, one for the Mixed Auction League in Chicago and one for the Mixed Auction League in New York. I'll finalize all of these tomorrow when I can call people on the East Coast. But it's been an active day even with me out of the office.

Talk to you all tomorrow as we head toward 300.

Okay, we now have 26 owners who have stated they are willing to compete in the $1,250 NL Auction League in Las Vegas on Friday morning, March 18th at the Rio. Tom will try to call the following owners to make sure they are making the switch:

Dave Cushard

Todd Zola

John Crane

Henry Cantrell

Wayne Barber

Roy Schneiderman

Steve Taylor

J.T. Visco

I've already talked to most of them and they ALL wanted a higher-stakes NL league. We'll pick the leagues once we have final confirmations and provide the nomination/reserve round order when that is confirmed.

Unfortunately, we're now short-handed in the $650 NL Auction League. There's nine spots left, so anyone who was hesitant before has plenty of spots open now. Let's fill that up as well and have three NL Auction Leagues going at once. Should be fun.

We will not be mixing AL and NL leagues or AL and Mixed Leagues. People who signed up for each particular auction obviously have been preparing for those and if we don't reach full leagues in each city we'll:

1) Try to do a two-city teleconference auction if the participants agree to that. Anyone who wants a refund instead will definitely get one.

2) Or cancel those leagues in each city and refund everyone's money for those.

We still have eight days in each city to get auction league signups, so I'm not panicking. But you are right, everyone needs to know the options and the options are to hook up participants in two cities or realize there isn't enough interest for these auctions in those cities and cancel them after March 13th.

Hopefully the interest in those will pick up this week.

14 SPOTS LEFT IN THE MAIN EVENT!!!

I have three tentative signups in hand, so we're getting close. Again, with each city coming down perfectly, we'll stop at 300 and hopefully land on perfect numbers.

Our goal is to have full leagues in each city, but it's still first-come, first-serve. Keep 'em coming as we're at 288 officially signed owners, with a few tentative owners already on a list. Don't wait much longer if you want to get in.

We're getting closer to filling up another Mixed League auction as Christopher Fleming has agreed to compete in NY. Chris is also taking part in the NFBC on Saturday and the Ultimate on Sunday so he's clearly a big supporter of the NFBC and we're thrilled he's decided to make it a trifecta next weekend in the Big Apple. Thanks again Chris and good luck in the quest to win $4,250.

The spots went so fast late this afternoon that I was never able to keep up on the message boards. We went from having 3 open spots in the New York-Chicago NL Auction League to 0 open spots within a five-minute period. It was unreal. Thanks everyone.

Then we got to 6 SPOTS LEFT IN THE MAIN EVENT!!!
