I will assure you Brandon webb just moved up from rounds 9-11 to 8-10 with this news.
Anyway good luck to all. I do believe poeple will look to draft the best teams. Maybe if enough teams play not to lose. If your goal is to finish 5th and get 500 bucks because an injury risk actually got hurt then move these guys up. [/QUOTE]Not that I have a problem with it, but economically speaking, it should move these guys up. You have an initial investment ($1300) that you spend on guys who have a certain amount of risk/reward. Reyes, for example, would be high on both ends, but if you are getting back part of your investment if he fails, it definitely lessens the risk factor and makes him a more valuable commodity.
To put it another way, take two players with the same ADP:
Player 1: 50% chance of performing like a first rounder; 50% chance of not playing.
Player 2: 50% chance of performing like a first rounder; 50% chance of not playing--but if he doesn't play you get $250.
Who are you going to want more?
If you said neither, you may be right, but someone is going to like player 1 and to that guy player 2 is far more valuable. In fact, you can put a number on it: he is exactly $125 more valuable because if you replay the season a million times, on average you'd earn $125 more with player two on your team.

Overthinking hurts my head.
I know that if I draft Reyes in the second round and put him on insurance, my first round pick is doomed. Murphy's Law.
For fantasy purposes, we'll call it Edwards Law, since Wayne plays the part of being the loveable loser.

I can't imagine a guy starting the season on the DL and also being on the insurance top 100 list(Beltran for example). Maybe I'm wrong there. Also remember it stated in an above post that the player must by officially on the DL.
Remember all the posts about late season DL additions regarding the Friday DL rule. Teams don't place players on the DL sometimes in September. That could also come into play with the player being insured.

Correct 60 days. Pujols on the DL for 45 days in May and June. Reinjured on Sept. 3. Not placed on the official DL. Does not qualify for 60 days.

Buy life insurance (you pay the premium, you die and someone else gets the money - double ugh)
They should call it FREE Prop bets. If your player is on DL for 60 days you get $250. Yes !

Personally, I don't understand some of the apprehension; Steve is right, "insurance" is not a fun word.
That said, I am sending a check and will insure one of my top picks; the KEY word was "FREE". I don't see this as a gimmick I see it as good business and a WIN-WIN situation. I don't have to pay by Credit Card and Fanball saves something by not having to pay the CC transaction penalty, yes, I called it a penalty...
I always have the best intentions to pay off my CC balance in full but it never seems to work out that way. Again, it is a WIN-WIN situation. One more comment as with all my insurance policies, I am glad I have them and hope I never have to use them. It will be the same here; can we get a policy for under achieving 1-5th round picks?

YOU guess which top 100 player misses 60 days (ON THE OFFICIAL DL) or more, and we'll give you a prize!!! (Do you even HAVE to draft that player???) It's like hedging your bet (which is like insurance...but "hedge" sounds MUCH better...like BUSH!)
Anyone have the numbers on "top 100 players" to officially miss 60+ days ON THE DL over the last 3-5 years...so I can crunch the numbers?

You don't need to crunch the numbers. As Doughboys said earlier, we're all more likely to insure our first round pick and then when we do that our second round pick will be out for the season. It's tough to even insure the RIGHT GUY when you get free insurance.
But that being said, you just need to know these names from last year: Jose Reyes, Brandon Webb, Jake Peavy, Geovany Soto, Rickie Weeks. They all killed our seasons last year and if you had this FREE policy you might have saved a little money.
This isn't your saving grace to entering the NFBC. But it's courtesy of a sponsoring company if you choose to pay by check. If you want to avoid the aggravation of this freebie, just provide your credit card number and let Bank of America have 3 percent of your total. That's easy enough.
But of course, first you have to enter to have any chance at any of this. Mr. Turbes, step right up, you're the next contestant on the NFBC Is Right!!

The first few rounds of a draft ARE first few "rounders" DUE to their proven durability...otherwise they'd fall like stones.
So you're insuring either a top rounder that will most likely not pay out (and like mentioned before...you are screwed if they do)...or you're insuring a 4-7th rounder. Most injury risk players will NOT be in the top 7 rounds. The top 7 rounders may indeed get hurt, but I'd love to see a sortable list of players days on the official DL so I can see how good/bad of an investment this is. The freebie is fine...but the company is not based on the freebie, even though it's not actually free, as that money could have been used in many ways (to sponsor/host a party with either the freebie money, or the money saved in CC fees, etc.) Nothing is free.

I know this is not official...but this was the NFBC top 100 ADP from your site...(I don't see Weeks here) (160-something ADP)
So if my math is correct...there were 4 of the top 100 ADP players who qualified for the insurance in 2009. The odds of you HAVING one of those four is less than that, and the odds you SELECT that player (if you had him) are less than that.
Someone please post a link to a sortable list of "days on official DL" ...I can't seem to track one down searching.

Anything that makes this game more like being a real GM is a good thing.
I personally would not buy this particular product (all you have to do is check out the # of players that it actually would have paid out on last year), but having it as yet another option makes the game better.
I'm sure this product will evolve over time and you'll soon see products that cover less extensive amounts of time on the DL.

Lance, there's been no indication yet of where this list of players will come from. I doubt it will be ADP unless it's qualified, like the top 100 insurable players by ADP, eliminating Reyes for example. Personally, my guess is that they will go with the top 100 players by last year's performance, with some method of valuation to determine that.
Chance favors the prepared mind.
