We're happy to report that Ron Shandler of BaseballHQ.com will be competing in the NFBC Main Event on Saturday, March 27th at Citi Field in New York. this is the first sentence or two from an article Ron's wrote and published on his website TODAY...

"I don't play in any money leagues. Well, no big money leagues, anyway. I play this game for the competition, and for me, money adds a component that distorts the experience."
EXPOSED!!! ;)

He's a typical "cut and paste" writer, recycling bits and pieces from previous years to quickly fill the (whatever) word minimum! :D
I read that article also....

It's called "The Psychology of High Stakes Leagues Part 1". The key to the title being the "Part 1". I think there's little doubt that its merely a precursor to his announcing his NFBC registration to his customers, especially since in the On Deck portion of the home page "Laboratory 2010 - the NFBC Experiment" is listed.

He's probably just CYA if he flops by stating beforehand that money distorts the competition.

Kinda like a free market distorts (read disproves) a professor's theories.
