Okay, if you want to know how much any of the players went for in LABR, let me know. I can answer that here. I'll also post the second round of this USA Today draft, too. Give me 2 minutes for that.

So before the AL Auction League we practiced some of the bids where I was the field and he was our team. I'd say a number and see if he would go higher. That way we were on the same page on how much we'd pay for some of the top stars.
On Sunday night before the NL Auction League, we were heading to the auction and going down the elevator when I said let's practice one more player. "Tim Lincecum, $32." He says "$34". I say "$35". He says I'll let you have him.
So we're at the auction and Lincecum is one of the first 10 or 12 players thrown out. The guy from Yahoo, Brad Evans, throws him out at $35!! Seriously. I turn to Shawn and say meekly "damn" knowing that Shawn wanted to build the staff around him. The auctioneer goes "Tim Lincecum for $35, going ONCE, TWICE" then Shawn says "$36". I turned to him and said "We just practiced this one!!!" We both laughed and had our staff ace.
Damn I thought it went 26 then 35..oh well I'm glad I went the extra buck in the end!

In the AL, believe it or not I thought Jack Wilson was a deal at $2. At that point of the draft we were looking for at bats from complementary players. I was really surprised no one when $3 on Adam Moore. we were prepared to go $4.

On Friday we went to the A's-Brewers game and say Ben Sheets against Yovani Gallardo. Sheets did NOT look good, although Jason Grey said he hit 92-93 on the radar guns. It looked more like 82-83 as the Brewers teed off on everything and seemed to be way out in front of most pitches. They hit him for two runs in the first inning and he only went 1.1 innings before hitting his 50-pitch limit. None of us were impressed, but it was only his first outing.
Weeks led off the first with a single, stolen base, went to third on the overthrow and scored. Childs' fascination with Weeks went up two-fold after that inning!!
Gallardo looked very good. Carlos Gomez batted second, although McGahee should go there. He didn't play on Friday. Rajai Davis made one of the best spring training catches diving on the warning track that you'll ever see. Great fun, although the A's battled back from a 6-0 deficit with a 7-run sixth to beat my Brewers 8-7.

Thoughts? This league is a joke
Let's just say they haven't been following the NFBC slow drafts ADP.
They know the players for sure, but they didn't have them in a 12 team structure. With the growing high stakes market, they probably don't want to drop the ball with good information.

Dukes was a last guy battle. Cruz was late, but better outfielders went in the $25 range.

Like Shawn said, we battled the Rotoworld team for Tulowitzki at $31 and they seemed happy to get Drew at $23. I thought that was a bit high, but that's just my opinion.
In the AL, I was surprised that speed didn't go higher. Juan Pierre for $20 seems like a bargain if Ozzie runs him as much as we all expect him to. But we'll see.

And now a word from our friendly sponsors, the NFBC:
I just posted this on another thread, but just a heads up to folks here if they want to do the Double Play for $500 online and be part of the $60,000 grand prize and the other $25,000 grand prize:
Okay, I know it's called the Live Double Play, but we want to give as many people as possible the chance to play this great concept. Therefore, we are opening this double grand prize concept to online users and looking to fill four leagues via online.
Here's the concept:
You can now draft online for the Live Double Play with five available draft dates:
Friday, March 19th at 5:00 ET (same time as live drafts)
Sunday, March 21st at 1:00 ET (same time as live drafts)
Monday, March 22nd at 7:00 ET
Wednesday, March 24th at 9:00 ET
Sunday, March 28th at 9:00 ET
The reason for doing this is simple:
1. We have several owners who are drafting in the Main Event Online who just can't make it to the live events but still want to participate in the Combined Standings prizes ($5,000 for first, $9,500 in prizes overall) with the additional $25,000 grand prize. This allows them the chance to now win $100,000 in the main event, $75,000 for winning both overall titles, $60,000 in the Online and $25,000 in the Live Double Play.
2. It looks like we should hit 21 full leagues live and we could push for more after that, but those would likely be city-hookups. We think this is the best way to still reach our goals and not make every other Live Double Play a hookup. In fact, if we have no city phone hookups we'll be happy.
3. And finally, we just had a lot of folks who love the Online Double Play concept but would love a shot at the second piece of that grand prize and they just couldn't get to a live event at the required times for this draft. Now we can accommodate them. We've created five different times to see if we can get into a league that they want.
We are taking signups now and will try for one league at each time, with possibly the early ones hooking up with Atlantic City. We'll see about that, but we want to be sure those go off as planned. Signup now at:
Games: Live Double Play
Venue: Online
Times: Pick your draft date.
Cost is $525 as there is the same Events Fee as the live drafts. Ask questions at if you'd like and hopefully we can fill this baby up. Thanks all.

In the AL, we also went through money early and just kept calling out the top players to get money off the table. Later on we strategically called out players we wanted, but not much early on.
I don't know Shawn, but I'd say 10-15% probably we called out and got. Doesn't seem like much more than that.

In the AL, I wanted to know where we stood with Andrus so we called him out. I think we went as high as $19, but we missed on him.
In the NL, we tried to roster a $13-$14 outfielder with our first call. We called out Lasting Milledge. We were thinking maybe $12 tops. We tried to buy him and went as high as $15 which was too high. Three hours later I bet he goes for less.
For the most part we didn't call out players we wanted. We spent early so we calling out the high end inventory to get money out of the other players.

Shawn, are you worried that Upton is supposedly hitting seventh in that lineup? We do have $31 invested in this speedster.
Make me feel better about this bid, please.

And by the way Eddie, you being a Pena fan. Does Blalock cost him any at bats?
