Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

Greg,
I stuck up for you (more than you know) when Fanball was F'ing you over. But this comment from you is utter ... YOU KNOW DAMN WELL THAT IN PREVIOUS YEARS THE NFBC REMOVED FREE AGENTS PLAYERS WHO WERE NOT DRAFTED, NOT PICKED UP, AND IN THE MINORS. THIS WAS CONFIMMED IN A POST OF YOURS THAT I REPOSTED IN THIS THREAD.
I'M TIRED OF GETTING RAPED BY FANBALL, NOW BY YOU. [/QUOTE]Mark, you can voice your displeasure at any rule possible and make your case professionally. I've never seen anyone on a fantasy board say they were RAPED by the game operator. If you're disappointed with me, you should see how I feel about you right now. Yes, you are the customer and the customer is always right, but not this time. Please, take this act somewhere else going forward.
You are in first place overall and saying we raped you. And you got John Ely in leagues this week. And could have bid on him this week or last week in every league. And you, of all people, never questioned that. Or any other minor-leaguer staying in the free agent pools until now.
I had a professional discussion/shouting match with KOQ today. We agree to disagree on many points. But it was professional. I didn't RAPE him and he didn't RAPE me. I expected no less from you tonight, however. You were spot on.
The rules have been consistently enforced as Glenn stated. Too much gray in the wording, which he acknowledged and helped alleviate. No more RAPING will go on. Thanks for helping eliminate that.

Mark, I already stated my view on the wording of the rule and what I believe to be a previously set precedent by Greg.
Still, I don't understand why you are so upset. You bid on the player and were awarded the player. I would think you'd be happy about the ruling. Please let me know why you are so upset.

Glenn Glenn - I (and many other owners) didn't realize until yesterday that minor leaguers (who weren't drafted but were in the bigs for at least a day) were being kept in the free agent player pool when in past year's they weren't.
this is really just the icing on the cake Glenn. every week there is an issue. my friend and i were joking that come FAAB sunday's how do we really know who is legal and illegal in the player pool. too bad it's not a joke. it's reality. sad, very sad.
let's see what happens when lots of minor leaguers get called up this summer. anyone think fanball will have the correct eligibility listed?

I just want to play the game as we've done for the past umpteen years. Sorry if my frustration is bubbling over. I like many others have limited time to spend on this stuff. It really deflates us when we have to spend unnecessary time on things that were previously GREAT.
I know Fanball is improving, but let's go a week without shooting ourselves in the foot. I love this game, and I desperately want the NFBC to return to being the crown jewel of the fantasy world.

i realize you and greg work for fanball, so you got to follow the company line, but from a player's perspective, it's tough paying for a BMW but when you pick it up, you find out you got a Kia Really? Lineup changes after the deadline makes you sick? Really? Are there two gekkos? Maybe i'm missing something but this is a bizzare thread.

Gekko,
You cashed in your chance to play this game as you've played it the past umpteen years the day you benched Padilla. You morphed into the alter-ego of Vinny PaCheata and the game you have played for the past umpteen years, along with your reputation and integrity, are changed forever.
With this experience under our belts, we have journeyed forward. Among other things in the first 6 weeks you have:
1. Called out a participants mom.
2. Insinuated to Greg that you were raped by him.
3. Told us how you don't worry about the little things in life (this has obviously been quickly contradicted in the past 24 hours).
You are an interesting character, Gekko. For some reason I have yet to figure out, I find you mildly entertaining and have even participated in a conversation or two with you over the course of the past 8 weeks. But man, you gotta learn how to just move on every now and then. This too shall pass as did the PaCheata fiasco. I would have expected that you, especially, would have learned that once the long arm of the law has ruled that the ship needs to sail come hell or high water.
Keep up the interesting banter and REV your FAAB engines for us every Friday. It's funny fodder and somehow, someway has probably influenced a folk or two.
FYI...no need to fill us in when you don't have MB access. E'one in MB Land knows when you don't or when you take a 72-hour sabbatical!

I know Fanball is improving, but let's go a week without shooting ourselves in the foot. I love this game, and I desperately want the NFBC to return to being the crown jewel of the fantasy world. If Glenn had told me that we weren't consistent in our ruling of the Player Pool this year, I would have been disappointed. As he stated, it's been consistent all year long and you also realized that when you bid and won John Ely in leagues yesterday. At no point did you question why he was there or at any other point this season. Nor has anyone else with a player who was promoted to the big leagues and left in the player pool.
Tom and I set the Player pool guidelines with IT when we developed the game. These are our guidelines. We honestly didn't believe we were making a change. Nor do we think the other way was better, if that's the way it was. Why would anyone want us deleting bids during the week or making the player pool more difficult to understand?
As we intended and apparently didn't translate clearly enough was a player pool that allowed pickups once a player is called up. That allows everyone a fair shot at a callup and if he goes back to the minors everyone has the same risk of adding him and storing him on reserve while he's in the minors. It makes for a better free agent pool and an easier to understand player pool.
They get added to an MLB team, they are eligible to be picked up. Nothing in the rules states otherwise. Everyone who got Ely and any other minor-league callup this year had the same shot at him as every other league member. And that's the way it should be.
We will define the player pool as Glenn suggested. We won't need to delete bids individually by league when someone gets sent down, during the week, no less. It's a more fluid player pool. I don't see how the umpteenth other league could be better, if that's how it was.
