I just couldn't take the chance after last night. John, I totally understand. Listen, I've talked to a lot of guys on the phone today and I could FEEL their frustration with last night. Hell, I didn't want to ADD to anyone's tensions, I wanted to relieve them with a mid-season draft. Tonight has been as smooth as silk and again the added 30 seconds and a little more knowledge of the software by some of the owners has helped. The Java Applet probably isn't the best software to use for an online draft and hopefully I can work with STATS to improve on our setup going forward. But I certainly feel comfortable that tomorrow's Don Mathis League should go off without a hitch, just like the two tonight.

Shoot me your phone number and we'll talk about the $1,000 league. I NEED to hear that tension in your voice so I can really feel your pain!!

I just couldn't take the chance after last night. Oh, and Eddie is having a blast tonight. Lots of chatter on the boards during the draft. Only Dyv entered late, but I'll let him explain how that happened! :D

Greg, I really don't want to vent any more. The allstar game is starting. Life is good. I'm in the $1000.00 league for better or worse and I'll see you in Las Vegas.

The $500 league went off without a single hitch. Great, great job everyone. It took 4 hours and 40 minutes. The $100 league tonight went off very well too and was done in 4:30. Thanks everyone and good luck in these mid-season leagues. We'll make tomorrow's draft 90 seconds inbetween picks again and work with all of the drafters beforehand. These leagues showed tonight that it can be done and we'll make it work tomorrow again.

Thanks everyone.

I was in the $100 league tonight and had one problem getting frozen out. The only times I was frozen was when I was changing the player search criteria. It picked my 4th round pick for me (The site gave me Reggie Sanders, although I got the player I was going to take 2 rounds later). With that one exception, everything went well. Just promise me that Reggie Sanders will duplicate first half numbers and stay healthy and I'll be happy,

WE did have a great time last night , i like my 500.00 better than my 1000.00. My son gets his new 80.00 dollar speakers for helping me out , even though he would have done it for free. I also bet the american league last night and hit miguel tejada to hit the first homerun at 25 to 1 bet. IT PAID A COOL 500.00 ALONG WITH THE AMERICANS , A600.00 DOLLAR NIGHT. Thats enough to pay for the night, funny how things work.

NOT TO MENTION TEJADA WAS MY 1ST PICK.

THANKS everybody lrts start the 2nd half.

I guess I should clarify about Monday's $1,000 leagues and where we stand right now. All 30 owners are playing this one out and nobody is dropping out. Each league will have 15 active owners. Even Rick Kanfer, who admittedly had the toughest time online on Monday, has agreed to run his team and compete for the $8,000 league prize. Kudos to everyone and let's have fun with these mid-season leagues. As they say, "Let the games begin."

We're cruising again tonight with the $250 Don Mathis Leagues and we'll post results tomorrow for that league and many of the others. What a difference these last two nights have made. We're using first half results for this draft tonight and the picks have been very interesting. Here's a little to nibble on:

1 1 Alex Rodriguez 3B CREATiVESPORTS Buster (Mid)

1 2 Albert Pujols 1B Team Dabigu

1 3 Derrek Lee 1B The Hilton Sisters

1 4 Bobby Abreu RF Is It Football Season Yet?

1 5 Vladimir Guerrero RF armchairman

1 6 Pedro Martinez SP Team Bufis

1 7 Brian Roberts 2B Lake Shore Drive

1 8 Miguel Tejada SS Team Ferrari

1 9 Manny Ramirez LF Team Eroh, II

1 10 Alfonso Soriano 2B Team Bores

1 11 David Ortiz 1B The Doughboys II

1 12 Scott Podsednik LF Team Kaye

1 13 Mark Teixeira 1B Team Mathis

1 14 Chris Carpenter SP Team Lionetti

1 15 Miguel Cabrera LF Team Giese

WOW in the 1000.00 dollar league 2 all those guys were in the top 16 except carpenter.I think the worst top pick for 2nd half leagues has to be roberts he has already slowed down. I RATHER HAVE FURCAL OR ROLLINS OR EVEN M GILES, WE WILL SEE. GREG if you get some time can you give a couple more rounds, its a boreing night.

Sorry Eddie, I missed this last night while I was monitoring the draft and recruiting NFFC members. Tom is going to try to get these first few rounds posted today in a separate thread and let everyone see what happened. Should be fun.

Great job last night everyone in the inaugural Don Mathis League. That looked like some fun. According to STATS, all of the free agent rosters for all of the mid-season leagues have been updated, so you'll have a chance to peruse those for the next few days and make your first bids for free agents on Sunday. For those in the Don Mathis League, the first half stats are calculated I believe for the players the computer designated as your starters and it will change shortly after the cutoff today when you officially set your starting lineups for Week 1. Look for those official standings later today.

Great job everyone the last two nights and best of luck everyone in the NFBC Mid-Season Auction League. That should be a hoot, too.

Greg - Other than me drafting a pretty sad looking team; I thought things went extremely well last night. A vast improvement over the Monday night $1000 draft. I believe knowing how to use the system helped, but moving to 90 sec's between picks was the real difference maker.

I will gladly donate again next season!

Pete (Is It Football Season Yet?)
OK - So I'm not as good as I thought I was; but at least I am consistent.

Pete (Is It Football Season Yet?) Thanks Pete. I agree that everyone got more comfortable with the site and the 90 seconds definitely made a difference. A few guys got locked up on Monday using the Java Applet and that made it tough, but for whatever reason nobody had technical problems the last two nights. I had a blast monitoring the drafts and even helping Stanley make his first five picks last night! ;)

These last two nights proved that there is a way to expand what we're doing with the live events. Could we run some satellite online leagues before the NFBC's live event next year and use those as feeder programs for the future? Of course. It could be fun to host a series of $100-$500 online leagues and allow current NFBC players to prepare for the main event, while allowing non-NFBC players the chance to check out our site, scoring system, etc. These last two nights also have proven to me that we can do online offshoots for the NFFC as well, and maybe we'll have some satellite leagues or mid-season leagues there soon, too.

I wish all three nights would have been perfect, but you just have to deal with the glitches sometimes and reach out to those who were affected. But my goal for 2006 is to definitely have mid-season leagues again and add satellite leagues before the season as well.

Thanks for the feedback and good luck.

Greg - The satalite concept is very cool. Perry and a few of us are in a draft that uses the NFBC rules that drafts for baseball starting in February, right after the Bowl games are all over. The fun thing about that is we can get into baseball mode instead of that miserable "dead period" between seasons.

I would gladly draft a satalite team in the early spring and still do the regular draft at the regualr time. No questions asked. It would be fun and the technology is available.

We'll get it done Pete and make sure the technology is improved and ready to roll. The last thing I want is anyone having a bad time in a satellite league and then not trusting us enough to enter the main event. But yeah, we could do some satellite leagues in February and March this year. And we will.

I thank him for listening. My main reason for posting all the problems is that I just don't want anyone to go through that again. As always, Greg will do the right thing.

I'm staying in. I'm asking for no refund.

My hope now is that all teams are managed and not one is dead. Maybe auction off any dead team? Or better yet, let Greg run it and donate any prize won to charity.

Wish I could have Zito and Benson (or the like), instead of Shields and Timlin in Round 10-11, but I will do my best to make this my finest hour on the last day of the season. And my finest hour it was.

Congrats to Kanfer for finishing second too!!

The top 5 teams picked 8-12.

How ironic that the two that had the major problems finished 1-2.

I would publicly like to thank:

1)J.Gomes, S.Chacon (my 2 FA pickups week 2 of this league)

2)M.Texiera for .315 18-71 2

3)G.Jenkins for .332 16-53 0

4)A.Kearns for 11 HR's

5) Patterson, Colon, C.Lee, Chacon, F.Garcia, D.Haren for all their efforts.

On Sunday, Runs Cat was 496-496-496-495. Kanfer and I were tied. Sunday, he finished 4th in runs, I finished 2nd. Had he won runs cat, we would have been tied for 1st with that 4 pt swing, 6 runs.

Too bad the wife has already spent the $$$. Visa wins again!!

Congrats on the Win UFS. Thought we had a chance for a closing rush and a story book finish. Didn't happen, great fun. Agonizing, and exciting simultaneously. Well done.

I always feared your team the most. Then on Friday, you gained those 6 points to get within 4 and panic sat in until you hit .135 on Saturday.

Also very glad the Angels are not playing the Red Sox.

YA!! it was a Roller Coaster finish. Thats for sure.

On the playoff matchups. Looks like a tougher spot for the Yanks. Having to fly to LA and play the Angels. I actually put both Anaheim and the Chisox ahead of the Yanks and then the Red Sox (Better Pitching, and as explosive as the offense of the Bosox is the Yanks are better through the line up.) I like the Angels chances.

But we'll see and that's what's great about baseball.
