2. How is accounting related to fantasy baseball? Not to speak for Todd, but when I read his last post (excellent by the way), I do not believe he said that someone new to the NFBC did not have a chance. I believe his point was that someone who does not have prior fantasy baseball experience/interest would be able to "catch up" in a few active months to those who have YEARS of experience (NFBC, local leagues, other national leagues, etc.) and countless hours of prep getting ready. I did not read Todd's post as a slam to newbies to the NFBC.

As to accounting, Todd by his own admission favors auctions, where accounting does come into play (fixed funding, multiple needs).

Just thoughts.

Baseball is a slow, boring, complex, cerebral game that doesn't lend itself to histrionics. You 'take in' a baseball game, something odd to say about a football or basketball game, with the clock running and the bodies flying.

2. How is accounting related to fantasy baseball? 1. No, not new to the NFBC -- but new to fantasy baseball, specifically rotisserie style scoring. Veteran roto players entering the NFBC for the first time have just as good a chance as veteran NFBC-ers, though the veteran NFBC-ers may have a leg up on knowing how to prepare specifically for this contest as the no-trading aspect is often different than private leagues.

2. Accounting is a very minor aspect when compared to economics and logic (game theory), I could have left it out as it could be rolled into economics.

how is fixed funding and multiple needs related to accounting? Seems more in the area of management decision making with some financial models which would be related to finance. As an accounting professor I cannot recall lecturing on fixed funding and multiple needs.

I would like to pick your brain as I am considering a leap from the auditing field to become an accounting prof. Would you mind if I contact you?

As an accounting professor I cannot recall lecturing on fixed funding and multiple needs. Really? As a practicing accounting professional with 15+ years experience, I deal with it every day. But then again in my experience, the walls between accounting, finance, and management are not so distinct as they might be in academia.

But no problem, we can agree to disagree.

Good luck! :D

I'm at the point I would settle for Mrs.Howell. But not Mrs. Roper.

[/QB]I'd take it a step further and say that even if you'd been in private (work/friends, etc) baseball lgs in the past, it doesn't help as much as actually competing in NFBC.

I'd done ok in a private lge in '03 & '04. I joined an NFBC satellite in '05 and got my butt whooped by a certain guy named Roundtrippers  !

It was a good experience though b/c now I feel much better equipped to compete. So look out RT, I'm comin' for ya :D
Always be closing.
