They should errect a statue in Jim Rome's honor for this. Wasn't this staged? [/QUOTE]Glen,

No way was this stagged. Did you watch the clip? Chris, I mean Jim, Everret was pissed!

I had an ad on his show two weeks before "Chrissy" and he slammed the ad by saying, "I don't endorse this product."

Within 15 minutes, the station manager had given me $2k worth of ads. Next day, he apologized on the air to me.

He had done ads for me the year before when he wasn't national yet. As soon as he went national, he announced a hatred for fantasy sports...

I always figured it was staged, as Everett never landed a punch. Guess he really is a Chrissy.

He said Everett was well aware that he would call him Chris on the show and that Everett was ok with it (Rome's words), and then Jim blew up. Although it's hard to believe that Jim wouldn't have a problem with it before.

Rome could read the room...he could tell Everett was a big softy.

Big softies flip tables, beat on chests, but seldom inflict pain...hence, softy.

Jim was correct in his read, and it literally launched his career.

~Lance The camera direction and operation tends to show it was staged. The interview is conducted in a series of over the shoulder shots and then all of the sudden we just happen to have a wide angle which perfectly frames both of them at the exact moment that Everett leaps into non-scripted action? A surprise fight breaks out between an NFL Qb and the wide angle camera slowly and smoothly pans over to the right and observes the struggle?

That's either the best and most prescient TV director in the history of the medium, or the director knew that that was the time to switch to the wide-view camera.

How many times have you seen something go out of control on a TV show and cameras and directors are scrambling around to frame and focus the action? No problem here, everything was perfectly situated and controlled to capture the "surprise."

Not to mention how Everett looks and sits before the flareup. He's smiling the entire time, with his body sharply leaning forward. He knows it's a setup and his body posture is screaming that he's waiting for a cue and anticipating something will happen.

Not to mention the fact that both guys had something to gain. Everett to shed his less-than-tough image (recall his sack where he voluntarily went down in the pocket without anyone touching him). And Rome to make a name for himself beyond radio.

One guy's opinion,

Terry

I agree, Terry. Every camera and angle was at the ready. Everett could have done some damage were it real. Pro wrestling without contact.

I can't listen to Rome. His pauses for dramatic effect come every five minutes. His cadence resembles William Shatner. And like Limbaugh, he's never wrong.

the show wasn't live. it's pretty standard protocol to have multiple camera's filming at one time when you are taping a tv show. once it is finished being taped, they then edit it together for the broadcast....

that's the funny thing about this thread. I highly doubt that GG is going on ESPN to talk about the NFBC or fantasy baseball. If that were

I look forward to the day when ESPN is smart enough to feature Shawn or Mark or Terry or Chris or Eddie or any of our NFBC guys on a fantasy baseball special. It would be good entertainment and good information.

What happened to CC Desperados...he stopped posting and stopped posting on his site?
