There's probably no good answer, but with high picks I try to target guys: (1) in their late 20s/early 30s; (2) with a 3-5 year injury-free history; (3) with no real history of abuse in thier early 20s; and (4) with big lower bodies . Sir Mix a Lot endorses #4
Brilliant reply.
WRT #3, does this mean you are discriminating against pitchers from broken homes, or perhaps that Josh Hamilton could never pitch for your team?
thx man, I was beginning to think my humor was lost here, like Jerry Seinfeld & Kenny Banya....it's gold Jerry, GOLD!
Always be closing.

I think this gets back to the question of if you are trying to win your league or win overall. Let's say there is indeed a 50% chance every one of your top two/three pitchers ends up on the DL. Fine. That also means there's a 25% chance both of your top two picks avoid the DL, and a 12.5% chance all three of your top picks avoid the DL. And I think if your goal is to win the overall, it's better to put yourself in position for that to happen. Because clearly SOMEONE is going to have his top three pitch all year, and if they pitch as expected, that guy is going to be very hard for someone like Ron to beat, just because that guy is going to get so many more innings, and thus likely more wins and Ks than Ron's team, which can't possibly get lucky and have his studs pitch all year. In other words, you absolutely need luck to win, especially with pitchers. But you also have to put yourself in position to destroy other teams if the luck happens to come.
