Last Chance For Our Football Contest
Posted: Wed Aug 24, 2005 3:13 am
I just sent this via e-mail to all our NFBC members, but in case I missed anyone I'll post it here, too:
I apologize for intruding on your baseball season, but I know that some of you guys also play fantasy football and I just wanted to reach out to our core group from the NFBC to let you know that our signup deadline for the National Fantasy Football Championship is Sunday, Aug. 28th at midnight. Right now we currently have all of our auction leagues full, one NFFC Ultimate League full and 257 spots filled for the main event. We will likely finish with about 294 teams for the main event, which is up from 224 of last year.
Anyway, if you're able to pull yourself away from baseball for the draft on Saturday, Sept. 3rd, the entry fee is $1,250 per team with a $100,000 grand prize. We'll have live drafts at the New York Hilton (1 p.m.), the Chicago Oakbrook Marriott (noon) and the Palace Station Hotel & Casino (10 a.m.) and everyone can try to unseat Gordon Gekko and Jason Emma as the defending champs of the $100,000 grand prize. If you have what it takes to compete in this football event, let me know and I'll get you signed up myself.

If you can't make it but you know a fantasy football junkie that wants to play, spread the word and we'll pay you a $100 referral. Nothing beats word-of-mouth advertising from our valuable customers.
If anyone wants to get into a $100 satellite league this weekend, the boys at LeaderboardSports.com (with over 30 entries in the NFBC) are challenging all takers in an LBS vs. the World competition. Two leagues of 14 teams will battle for bragging rights. You might not want to miss this. Anyway, the link is here and it's worth it just to see Dyv's graphics on the Message Boards:

Contact me if you want to sign up for that one.
Good luck everyone the rest of the baseball season. It's been a fun, fun year that has been filled with a lot of suprises. It looks like just about every single league will go right down to the wire. We'll send out W-9 forms to everyone in money contention next month and ask you to sign and mail them back to us. Once we have those in hand, we'll send the checks out immediately after the regular season is completed so that you can enjoy your earnings as soon as possible. We'll also begin taking signups for the 2006 NFBC the day after the regular season ends and have all the rules and contests in place.
If you have any rules suggestions (including minimum innings pitched), send them to me before the end of the season. I am definitely increasing second place league money next year, I am definitely shooting for more than 300 teams in the main event, I will again offer Ultimate League Drafts and Auction Leagues, I will be adding $1,250 Mixed Auction Leagues this year, and I am definitely going to add online satellite leagues at $100, $250, $500/team and maybe more in early March through Mock Draft Central.com. We have run satellite leagues for football very successfully and I've learned enough from the baseball ones that we can do this correctly in early March and run great full-season leagues for everyone to go along with our live drafts. They will be feeder programs for the big event in the future.
That's it for now. Come play football if you think you have what it takes to beat Gekko and win $100,000. If you're strictly a baseball guy, then just plan for the NFBC in 2006 and we'll see you in mid-March. Thanks for a great, great season and best of luck the rest of this year.
