How Close Are The NFBC League Races?

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Mon Sep 19, 2005 10:51 am

With two weeks of action left, I decided to see how many league races are still up for grabs. Of the 20 main event leagues, here's the data:

** There are two leagues that have two teams tied for first place as of today. In Las Vegas League 2, two teams are tied for first and the third place team is just 0.5 points out of first. In Chicago League 3 where two teams are tied for first, three other teams are within 5.5 points of first place.

** Two other leagues have a half point separating first from second place. In Las Vegas League 5, a third team is just three points out of first place. The other half point league is New York League 3.

** There are six other leagues where first place is being decided by 4.5 points or less, giving us a total of 10 leagues with leads of 4.5 points or less. There are two other leagues where the teams hold leads of 5.5 points.

** The eight other leagues have leads of 11 points (Chicago League 2), 17.5 (LV 1), 16 (LV 3), 11.5 (LV 6), 26.5 (LV 7), 23 (LV 8), 10 (NY 2), and 14.5 (NY 4).

** In five of the auction leagues, the lead is three points or less. In the Ultimate Draft League where $40,000 is at stake, the lead is 1.5 points. So again, among our 32 total leagues not counting the mid-season leagues, the league leaders in half of them have leads of 4.5 points or less.

In the overall contest, we've seen the leaders switch among the top five each day this week. Right now the overall leader has a 15-point lead, but four teams are within 79 points of the lead. It should be a great finish to the $100,000 grand prize.

I'm lucky because I just get to sit back and watch all of these leagues play out. Good luck to everyone and may the best teams win.

I admit this is a reach but then again, it isn't too far of a reach.

The loser of the NY5 battle could end up as the overall champion. Wouldn't that be unbelieveable.

NY5

1. Moneymakers 139.5

2. MGBS109 133.0

Overall

1. Doughboys 2593.5

2. Moneymakers 2583.5

3. MGSB109 2569.5
