We have officially opened the NFBC Registration page for 2006 and are taking signups now. Just click on REGISTER on the home page to get signed up for 2006. We've had a couple of signups already and will announce them soon. Thanks everyone for a great, great 2005 season and I look forward to seeing everyone again in 2006 for our third season of the NFBC.
A few insights to 2006:
1) The prize structure is set up for 330 teams in the main event, but we have put in the rules that we can expand to 375 teams. Should we go beyond 330, 75% of the entry fees will be returned to increase the overall prize pool. The entry fee remains $1,250 and $100 for a co-manager.
2) We will have live drafts in New York, Las Vegas and Chicago again in 2006. I have been unable to secure adequate space in Tampa or Orlando at this point and may look to expand to a fourth site in 2007 rather than 2006.
3) Auction leagues will be added in all three cities again and it's first-come, first-served. We have added $1,250 Mixed Auction Leagues for the first time this year, but otherwise the lineup card remains the same as it was in 2005.
4) We will be offering Ultimate Draft and Auction Leagues again in 2006 on a first-come, first-served basis. Our goal is to fill up an auction league in Las Vegas this year if possible, but we definitely will offer multi-city teleconference Ultimate Draft leagues if needed.
5) There are only three rule changes for our events: a) There will be a minimum 400 inning pitched rule in each league; b) Players being drafted must be on MLB 40-man rosters; and c) You will be allowed to replace players on your starting roster with players from your reserve roster each Friday ONLY if any of your starters are officially on the DL. Again, ONLY DL players will be allowed to be reserved each Friday.
6) The draft dates are Friday, March 17th (auctions), Saturday, March 18th (main event) and Sunday, March 19th (Ultimate Leagues). The signup deadline is Sunday, March 12th, but it's first-come, first-served for all of the events.
That should do it for now. Let the signups begin. All money winners from 2005 will see checks arriving later this week if we have your W-9 on file. If you haven't filled out a W-9 yet, contact Tom Kessenich at [email protected] and we'll get one to you ASAP. Our goal is to start mailing out the checks on Wednesday to all winners who have already returned their W-9s. Enjoy the winnings and remember to save a little for 2006's entry fees!!!
Thanks again everyone and let's start the signups.
