Kentucky Derby Style For 2006

I apologize for not updating this discussion since I posted the poll last month, but I waited for all of the feedback and then some last minute details with STATS before finalizing this. Now for the update:
1) The poll showed that 70% of our NFBC respondents and a higher amount of e-mails I received said they would like to use the Kentucky Derby Style system in 2006 to determine draft spots. Basically, all that means is that Tom and I will still pick each league for the main event randomly and the draft order randomly, but each owner will have some say in telling us which is their draft spot preference. We'll keep those lists and go off them when announcing the draft order for each league.
2) STATS will create an area on the NFBC game site for draft preferences. It is not completed yet and I'll have an update on how this looks and works soon. It can be done online and once you have access to the game site you can rank your preferences and change them up until our determined deadline (likely a few days before our signup deadline). We'll also have a checkbox that says "I'll take spots 1 through 15 in that order" for anyone who will take whatever spot they are given.
3) I know there is some backing for the Blind Bidding Draft System for the main event, but I said right along I didn't want to do that for 2006. I will definitely create some satellite leagues that use BBDS if anyone wants to try that. But I did receive strong feedback via e-mail and on the phone from owners who DID NOT want BBDS in the baseball main event.
4) I'll have an update on the Satellite Leagues soon, but I'll likely announce a more aggressive schedule than I had thought. Terry Haney made a good suggestion to run some satellite leagues just before Opening Day and I will add those for sure. We could also have satellite leagues in early February for those owners who want to get a jumpstart on 2006. Look for that post soon.
I am still working with STATS on the KD System, so there's a 1% chance we won't have this in 2006. But for those owners waiting to see what I was going to do, I can tell you that I feel there is enough support to add this wrinkle to the competition and we'll unveil the setup soon. It won't change the competition at all, but it may provide a little more strategy when it comes to your draft spot.
Good luck everyone.
