Satellite Leagues in February?

Okay, I apologize for not being as active on the Message Boards as I have been in the past, but Tom and I are knee deep in rankings and ratings for our first Fantasy Sports Magazine issue of 2006. All NFBC members will get their first copy of the magazine in the mail by late January, but Tom and I have a holiday deadline to beat first. Now, how much is Jim Thome worth in Chicago?
However, I know that some guys are getting itchy for the 2006 baseball season and I just wanted to let everyone know that we will have a full slate of satellite leagues in 2006 if you're interested. My goal is to offer online drafts as early as February and likely offer a few per week by late February and early March. I even plan to do an online NFBC satellite league after our main event for anyone who would like to compete in a high-stakes league just a few days before Opening Day.
Needless to say, we'll also offer our same slate of mid-season leagues during the All-Star break as we evolve the NFBC in more and more ways. We ran $100 entry fee leagues, $250, $500 and $1,000 mid-season leagues last year and I think we'll do the same in 2006 for the mid-season and satellite leagues.
So, is anyone interested in doing a satellite league in February? A week or two after the Super Bowl? I'm working on the Satellite League signup page now and should have more details soon, but I just wanted everyone to plan accordingly if they want to compete in some pre-main event leagues this season.
Are you ready for some baseball? I know I am, but first we must finish our rankings and ratings for the magazine. If you don't hear from me for a bit, you'll know the reason. It's not because of football, it's because we're already doing your baseball homework for you.
Now, how much do you think Zach Duke is worth in a Mixed Auction League?

I would definitley be interested in a late Feb. early March draft. What would the entry fee be and what would the prize structure look like?

We'll do $100, $250, $500 and even $1,000 satellite leagues if the interest is there. We paid back 80-82 percent of all entry fees in prizes for the online leagues and will do that again. Check out the NFBC prizes link for those payouts. We'll pay top three in each league, although the $100 leagues are a winner-take-all for a free 2007 NFBC entry ($1,250 value). Sound good? First place in the other leagues was $2,000, $4,000 and $8,000.

it's a 15 team league comprised of members via an online draft usually using mockdraftcentrals website. The rules generally mirror the main contest's.

Some guys use them as preparations before the main event, while others just can't get enough leagues to compete in. The key is that all of the drafts are online.

Rook, my man! I don't know why, but I'm checking these boards every day to see if you officially signed up in the chase for $100,000. I barely knew the difference between Brian Roberts and Bip Roberts last year, yet now I'm $100,000 richer (minus an expensive celebratory trip to "The Doll House" ). This could be you!

Will non-satelite league players be able to see the draft results? If not, will satelite league players be able to see the results of all drafts or just their own?

I don't know the answers to that yet as I'll have to talk with STATS. My goal would be to not make those leagues visible to anyone outside satellite league members until our main event has passed. That's my goal.

Greg, we will do the magazine satellite league. Can we see if the owners would put up some cash to make it worth wild? I could see the interest fall a lot as the season wears down. I'd like to see something like $250 per team with 1st,2nd and 3rd all winning main event entries. You could add a bonus prize to the winner if you wanted.

We have our 15th owner now, so the field is set. You are more than welcome to ask the other owners what they want to do. I know I'll add a prize at the end and if there's more, I'm all for it. But we are drafting in December, so that makes it tough.

I thought I'd wait until after the fantasy football season, when everyone will be concentrating on baseball!

Greg,
Do you really need 20% to set up a satellite league? 15 times $1000 = $15,000 times 20% = $3000!!!!

I enjoy using the FantasyAuctioneer.com site, but we need to make sure that everyone who enters a satellite auction league has tested this out beforehand and has a good computer and no dial-up service. If all 15 owners have good access, this can be done and done well.
I'll add that to the list soon, but it's a good idea.
