NFBC Champions League For The Magazine

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Tue Nov 29, 2005 4:55 am

I am going to host an NFBC Champions League Draft on Tuesday, Dec. 13th starting at 7 p.m. EST. We'll draft on Mock Draft Central.com and all of the results will be uploaded into the NFBC game site and we'll play it out. The winner of this league will earn $500 worth of entry money for any 2007 NFBC Satellite league. All of the results will also be included in our first issue of Fantasy Sports Magazine for all to see.

I will invite the 20 league champions from 2005 and the first 15 to respond can join us. If all 20 are adamant about joining, we'll take the 15 highest scoring teams from 2005. If everyone bows out because they don't want to show their hands in a national publication, then I'll extend the invitation to other dedicated owners who want to compete.

The list of 2005 champions include:

Shawn Childs

Jeff Peters

Nate Ravitz

Clark Olson

Kent Stermon

Mike Cameron

Dan Kenyon

Kevin Rogers

Jesse Herron

Joe Thelen

Michael Caputo

Stephen Jupinka

Doug Jaffe

Brian Oldenski

Joe Mullins

John Hogan

John Swol

Mark Yagan

Steven Tavoso

Jeff Cooper

If you want to compete, feel free to respond here or e-mail me at [email protected]. We'll also send out an e-mail to these 20 owners offering a personal invitation to compete. I might even have some Cheat Sheets ahead of time if you need something to prepare with. Anyway, thanks to anyone who can help us with this pre-season draft and may the best team win.

More details coming soon.

Greg I would love to participate- I get married this weekend and I just may have the sacks to work on my draft list on the honeymoon. I will be away from email while in Jamaica but will definitely want in.

That is what I call dedication. Congratulations Chesty! :D

I'd love to take part in this (and school some of the heavy-hitters in the process ), but my work schedule is a killer. I'm in New York city until about 7:00 every night, and then I'm faced with a two hour train ride. Sorry, Greg. I can't make it.

You're already on the cover of that magazine and featured inside, so we'll let some of the other owners earn their keep in that issue. We'll see you in March in New York.

Okay, the lineup is set as we now have 15 owners. I'll get that information to Jason Pliml soon and he will create the draft site and send out invitations to each owner. See you in another 11 days and be ready. Thanks everyone.

Can we see if the owners would put up some cash to make it worth wild? I could see the interest fall a lot as the season wears down. I'd like to see something like $250 per team with 1st,2nd and 3rd all winning main event entries. You could add a bonus prize to the winner if you wanted.

Anyone interested?

MockDraftCentral.com is doing the draft spots automatically and that will be included in the e-mail that Jason said would be coming today. Look for that e-mail today with your draft spots. Blame the computer on this one, not Tom or I, if you don't like your draft spot!

Just so everyone knows, since we're playing this out we'll draft all 30 rounds and you DON'T have to fill out your starting 23 with your first 23 picks. Same rules as the live NFBC event. Also, I will try to have a player eligibility list for everyone on Friday because I know that MDC's eligibility list is different than the NFBC's. And since MLB teams don't have official 40-man rosters right now, we'll allow most anyone to be drafted, but no Class A pitchers and the like!!!

Look for that URL today. Thanks everyone and I'll see you all next week on the site.

Coops, Why don't you run down to warm and toasty Tampa this year rather than cold and windy Chicago? I am probably going to go down early for the Shandler forum (negotiations are going well with the wife...I just need a Christmas party and a couple of glasses of vino in her and the deal will be settled).

Todd Zola will be in one of the Tampa leagues so we should have some good competition (sorry, do not recognized any of the other names but I am sure they are good competitors, too) as well as be able to take in a spring training game!
