NFBC Satellite Leagues Are Available
Okay, we are going to debut the NFBC Satellite Leagues for anyone who would like to compete in individual online leagues before Draft Day. The list of options can be found on the REGISTER link. Just scroll down to the bottom and you'll see the list of options we have right now. Click on View Satellite Options and you'll find plenty of options.
Here's a couple of quick points:
1) All of the drafts will be held on Mock Draft Central.com. All NFBC members who sign up automatically get a free subscription to MDC and can test out the system well in advance of the Satellite League drafts in February and March. Get to know the system and you won't have any problems on Draft Day.
2) I've increase the payouts from the mid-season leagues, providing 83% in prizes from the entry fees. We'll pay the top three in each 15-team league and there is no overall prize between leagues.
3) We are offering $100, $250, $500 and $1,000 entry fee leagues. We'll run any and all that fill with 15 teams. If some don't fill, we'll cancel them and refund your money. Simple as that.
4) The dates I've set up are Tuesday, Feb. 21, Tuesday, Feb. 28 and Tuesday, March 7. It's easier to fill the leagues if we don't spread them out over every day of the week. If there is a special interest in another day, I could offer it. But for now let's stick with these three dates. I am interested in offering a satellite league closer to Opening Day, like March 28th or 29th, but we'll deal with that later.
5) I don't have an auction league as an option right now, but I can create a special link for that if guys want to try that. There is a good program on Fantasy Auctioneer.com that we can use, but everyone MUST test it out beforehand, not have dial-up and work with me to pull that off. Any day other than the Tuesday scheduled Satellite league draft dates will work for me.
Here's the prize structure for the Satellite Leagues and I'll add this to the Prize Link soon:
$1,000 Entry Fee Satellite Leagues:
1st - $8,000
2nd - $3,000
3rd - $1,500
$500 Satellite Leagues:
1st - $4,000
2nd - $1,500
3rd - $750
$250 Satellite Leagues:
1st - $2,000
2nd - $750
3rd - $375
$100 Satellite Leagues:
Winner take all for a 2007 NFBC free entry
$100 Satellite Leagues (2nd option if you're interested):
1st - $800
2nd - $300
3rd - $150
If you have any questions or want me to sign you up for any of the leagues, just post them here. Good luck everyone and enjoy these Satellite Leagues before we run the big events on March 17-19.

Greg, will you post the signups for Sat leagues, like the rest, so we see how they are building up?

I didn't state a time for these, but let's plan for 7 p.m. EST for most of them. If there's a West Coast contingent that wants to do some later, I'll definitely create one specifically for later. Doing it at 6 p.m. EST is probably cutting it too close to work time for most folks.
Also, teams will have 90 seconds per pick. Without any glitches, these drafts can get done in 4 hours or so.

These signups won't be processed until Feb. 15th as well. No need to pay us yet, we just need commitments.

Greg,
One small thing- during the champions draft Mock Draft Central would go back in and redo a pick for someone if they were having trouble with the software.
Will the same thing happen when we are playing for money- I had no problems with the software during that draft because I took a demo before hand. I do not think you should be able to repick.

In the 'rule changes for 2006' thread you suggested a rule allowing roster moves within the 30-man roster twice a week, which was criticized by many and thus not implemented. However, not all (at least me), were against such a rule change. Will the rules for all the satellite leagues be the same as the NFBC main event or will you offer a league with twice-a-week or better yet daily roster moves?

Yes, we will monitor the drafts and if someone gets booted off or something happens to time them out before their pick and we catch it right away, we will step in and make it right. Obviously we don't want to get involved, but sometimes we can see where a person gets booted off and isn't there for their pick. We'll try not to stop very often as it can bug the system, but yes we will step in to make sure everyone gets the picks they wanted.

If there are 15 owners who want to do a Satellite League with twice-weekly moves, I can do that with STATS. Start a thread and see who wants in. Same thing with Blind Bidding Draft Spots preference. If someone wants to do a league like that, let me know, start a thread and I'll run it if we get 15 owners. STATS can even do a daily transaction league, but that would be too much for me to monitor!
Good question on the free entry. You'll have to ask me offline.

Will the entrants to the satellite leagues be able to see the draft results of the leagues that they are not entered in?
Will those that are not entered into a satellite league be able to access draft results?
Will the combined draft results be made available to review prior to the main NFBC draft?

Nobody else will see the results of those satellite leagues unless one of the owners posts them on the Message Boards. But only those owners with access to the leagues will have access to the team rosters and draft results in the NFBC game sites.
Nope.
No, we won't have Average Draft Positions or any data from the satellite leagues held before Draft Day. Those who are entered in those satellite leagues gain the knowledge from the leagues they competed in and that's where it will stay.

I do not have access to Mock Draft Central as well. I have signed up for satellite leagues and will be a part of the NFBC magazine draft Thurs. nite.
