St. Louis and Pujols 5: Here We Come

Post by Greg Ambrosius » Thu Dec 08, 2011 4:21 pm

Now that Albert Pujols has abandoned St. Louis, will the NFBC also abandon St. Louis? Not on your life missy!! But we do feel badly for Cardinals fans and we feel bad for those who love Pujols 5 Restaurant, where we hope to fill NFBC leagues in March. Here's a Bloomberg story today on that restaurant and what their employees think of Albert leaving:

Just a heads up for those owners who are coming to St. Louis for the drafts at Pujols 5 Restaurant. I just talked with the Sheraton next door and we have a tentative room block for Friday and Saturday at $89 per night. It won't be active until we sign the agreement, but we have rooms for both days and they will be available at that price through late February. Let us get that contract signed first, but this should work out great. Folks will like the Sheraton Westport.

If the NCAA Tournament is going to be in St. Louis that weekend, that's a great price. Plan accordingly and look for more details soon. We're really getting some good room rates for our NFFC participants.

Here's the current Main Event signup list in St. Louis. ONLY EIGHT SPOTS LEFT!!!

ST. LOUIS
Pujols 5 Restaurant
Saturday, March 24, Noon CT

3. Mike Duggan, St. Simons Island, Georgia
4. Kyle Brinkmann, Vandalia, Illinois
5. Paul Weber, Richmond Heights, Missouri

The NCAA Sweet Sixteen round will host games in St. Louis on March 23rd and 25th. That's great news for NFBC owners who will be drafting in St. Louis on Saturday, March 24th. It's also great news that we have rooms blocked off at $89 per night. Enjoy the weekend in St. Louis if you're drafting there and make sure to secure your spot if your planning to attend. Thanks all.

We now have 9 spots filled for the St. Louis Main Event on Saturday, March 24th, leaving us with ONLY SIX SPOTS LEFT for that first full league. We currently don't have space at Pujols 5 for more than one Main Event, although if demand exceeds expectations we can grab the back conference room. Either way, if you're thinking about joining the St. Louis Main Event keep an eye on the signup list. Welcome aboard all and thanks for the good response. We're happy to be back in the home of the MLB World Champions.

I drafted in St. Louis a couple of years ago at the Pujols.
It combines the best of both worlds.
Small enough where you can meet all the drafters beforehand to put a name, face, and personality to each number.
The draft has more of a 'hometown' feel to it being in a smaller room.
And then, the best part is sitting down to a dinner and talking over the good picks and bad.
Almost combining Christmas with the opening of presents that are our draft picks, then sitting down to Thanksgiving dinner to talk about it.
Great stuff. Great experience.
On my tombstone-
Wait! I never had the perfect draft!

Okay, NOW WE'RE GOING TO HAVE SOME FUN IN ST. LOUIS!!!

I assume they're coming to St. Louis because Charlie Wiegert is going to be there, but we are happy to welcome Ken Magner of Freehold, New Jersey, Chip and our NFBC champion Lindy Hinkelman to St. Louis. Ken and Chip just grabbed a spot in the Main Event at Pujols 5, giving us 13 teams now for that Main Event. I have spots left FOR ONLY TWO MORE TEAMS!! After that, I don't know what I'm going to do. And Ken and Lindy are going to team up for a spot in the NFBC XII on Saturday night at Pujols 5. Should be a lot of fun in the Gateway to the West. ;)

Here's our St. Louis signup list:

ST. LOUIS
Pujols 5 Restaurant
Saturday, March 24, Noon CT
1. Darik Buchar, Lakeville, Minnesota
2. Ted Jarzabek, Oaklawn, Illinois
3. Mike Duggan, St. Simons Island, Georgia
4. Kyle Brinkmann, Vandalia, Illinois
5. Paul Weber, Richmond Heights, Missouri
6. Brent Grooms, Tallahassee, Florida
7. Eric Albright, Loveland, Ohio
8. Matthew Anderson, Villa Grove, Illinois
9. Keefe Isgrigg, Moscow Mills, Missouri
10. George Puhl, Metamora, Illinois
11. Jody Earley, Pelham, Alabama
12. George Headrick, Springfield, Missouri
13. Ken Magner, Freehold, New Jersey

TWO SPOTS LEFT!!!

Greg:

Actually Greg, just have me in St Louis on Fri/Saturday. Looking to take part
in both of the Primetime XII drafts and the Main Event.

If you recheck the registration info, Lindy is hoping to assist CHIP on Sunday,
April 1st in the Las Vegas Auction at 10am. I'll be doing the Super League with Mr Christie and
the CHAMP was pretty excited to sit in and help my son. Kenny will be making the trip
to Las Vegas. Mom only signed off for one weekend! :)

Thanks, Ken

Got it. I'll correct my post on the Welcome Wagon thread!! Glad to have you ALL IN in St. Louis and I'll make sure Charlie takes good care of you. Enjoy the Gateway City.

Got the Supers and the Vegas Main. All sounds good. Lindy and Chip at the Super before Lindy heads to the Ultimate Auction on Sunday night. Wow, what a day. Thanks.

Greg,

I tried to send you a PM but it says I do not participate enough to send PM's :)

If I am 90% sure I can do St Louis do you want me to sign up or would you rather me hold off.

Thanks

Hmmmm, the PMs should be working. I haven't had any problems. WELCOME BACK!!! Sign up online and I'll add you to the list now. Just verify when you know the last 10% and we'll secure your spot if it works out. If it doesn't, well, it looks like we'll be able to fill it anyway!!!

Wow, NCAA Tournament, Charlie Wiegert, good drafters, Pujols 5 Restaurant all equals a great first weekend of drafting. I love it!! Thanks all.

Because the scheduled Friday Draft is starting at 4pm, have plans to go to the NCAA games that evening.
Looks like about a 20-25 minute ride. If anybody is interested, feel free to drop me a note. Be nice to
have an NFBC group heading over on Friday and/or Sunday for the doubleheader of Sweet 16 action.

Now adding Rick Thomas would be a real treat! Nice to CATCH you on a level playing field after you took advantage of that Green Bay/New Orleans "cheat" game to beat me out of second money in the Draft Champions! ;)

Congrats Big Guy, nice job. Hope to see you in St Louis.

Let me know ASAP RT if you're taking this last spot. I have a lot of owners from last year who are still settling their plans too. This last spot is up for grabs.

I don't have a second room in St. Louis, but I guess anything is possible. There is a back room at Pujols 5 and there are conference rooms at the Sheraton. If St. Louis keeps going strong, I'll need to recruit all of Charlie's relatives to run the drafts!!! Thanks all.

Confirm via text or email RT and this spot is yours.

Greg,

I drafted in Vegas of Weekend 1 of last year, but had a couple of friends share a Main Event team in STL. If you say you're looking for help for Charlie, let me just say that my buds talked for about 10 minutes about a certain female facilitator in STL last year before we even got to their team! ;)

I'm not sayin', but I'm just sayin', you know what I'm sayin'? :D

And since I'll be in STL this year, I wouldn't mind a little eye candy as opposed to this spot-on Gaucho Marx impersonator that I have been accusmtomed to the past 2 years in Vegas!
