I am now happy for the delay in getting the DC's started. Holding pick 1 in Draft 1 Braun would've been my pick. Back to the drawing board.
Too bad Braun "fell" to me with the 4th pick overall in the email DC done in October!
On another note: if Braun is suspended, boy is that Brewers offense going to be terrible the 1st half of the year!

I"m more interested in how FAR Braun falls......Is 1/3 of a season from an elite guy worth a 10th round pick? 15th round??

Braun
As usual this will make us all wonder about everyone, I am also glad the slow drafts starting later. With 4th pick he couldve dropped to me.
"If you aint cheating you aint trying" montra exists in full force still in MLB & all sports.

Being from Wisconsin, I am hoping this somehow isn't true. He is as big as Aaron Rodgers in the state and since he signed his new contract that basically makes him a lifetime Brewer, fans have talked about how is number will be retired someday and how he will have a statue outside of Miller Park when he retires. SAD!

Apparently, he is not disputing the validity of the test but the manner it entered his body, he is trying to prove it was not deliberate and unbeknownst.
In his favor is years and years of passing tests.
Working against him is no one has won an appeal.

"Working against him is no one has won an appeal."
And no one has won in the court of public appeal either. Really, no one has had a believable excuse. I look forward to hearing his side. This definitely isn't like Bonds or A-rod, where you get some small satisfaction in his outing. It's difficult.

Well said. This one is difficult.
Here is the best news article / video article I have seen on Braun so far.

Greg,
Can you "clawback" prize money paid out to Braun owners last year and redistribute? Thanks.

I don't know how this is going to play out, but the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel has a good story on this potential suspension here:

It's interesting that the second test turned out negative. Braun is vehemently denying PED. Let's see how this plays out and it is HUGE news for MLB, fantasy baseball and definitely the Brewers. I'm sick to my stomach thinking that he might have used PEDs last year. But let's see how this plays out and baseball better reveal more facts soon before this becomes a mess.

Okay then, I'll hold judgement until I know more. Very interesting read.

SUNDAY, 11:50am: Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports hears from a source that Braun tested positive for a prohibited substance, not a performance-enhancing drug (Twitter link). Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel was told the same thing, with his source saying there's "never" been a result like this since MLB's drug testing program began.

These updates Suck for Braun and Sportsline already moved him down in their OF Rankings to #29 right between Markakis and Melky Cabrera for another Kick to the Stones!
5:21pm: According to a source familiar with the case, Braun's original test for performance-enhancing drugs was "insanely high, the highest ever for anyone who has ever taken a test, twice the level of the highest test ever taken," writes Teri Thompson of the New York Daily News.
3:55pm: Yahoo's Jeff Passan reports (in these five Twitter links) that baseball's new CBA contains a provision stating that if a player tests positive for a banned substance, the drug will be publicly announced. The Players' Union could contest the announcement, as Braun's test was conducted under the old CBA, which prevented that information from becoming public. Experts say that false positives are nearly impossible under the carbon-isotope testing performed by WADA. His source also confirmed that MLB has never lost an arbitration case with PEDs. Ultimately, Passan says it's unlikely Braun's appeal will stand, and we'll probably learn which substance Braun tested for.

Ryan Braun's testosterone levels during his failed drug test were "insanely high, the highest ever for anyone who has ever taken a test, twice the level of the highest test ever taken," a source told Teri Thompson of the New York Daily News.
Braun told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel on Saturday that he's "completely innocent" of the PED charge, claiming the "only thing I have been taken is a heavenly dose of Tebow-juice!" This may explain the insanely high levels. Yahoo! Sports' Jeff Passan spoke to an expert that said false positives results are almost impossible using MLB's carbon-isotope-ratio test. Thompson's source, however, said Braun's case involves "highly unusual circumstances."

It looks like this case won't be settled until after January's hearing, so NFBC Slow Drafts won't know for sure what his status will be right away. However, no case has ever been overturned, so Braun's odds of beating this one are too high to ignore.
Here's a good followup story by the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel today:

From a standpoint of not judging until there is finality, certainly.
However, there will be drafts slated to begin in days and everyone's thinking the same thing. What is Braun worth right now?

Where would you take a first rounder with a two month injury and zero recovery time for that injury?
That is worst case scenario.
Best case is that it is business as usual and he goes in the top half of the first round.
If drafts started today, I would lean a little towards worst case and view him playing 110 games.
There are usually one or two ultra gamblers in every draft. I'm guessing that Braun goes in the second round by somebody willing to take a gamble now.
If his appeal is lost in January, he drops to the third round. Again, this is surmising that one of the 15 drafters will be an 'all or nothing' type of picker.
