xxx A new contract league ...
We're planning a second contract league. It will start this Thursday morning.
League #2 will be a 50-round draft champions format (no free agents after the draft).
LEAGUE STRUCTURE
* The MLBC League entry fee is equal to $10 per $1,000,000 dollars of the actual MLB salary of the players each team drafts. Unlike a standard baseball draft, an owner in this league must consider the cost of the player in addition to the expected production of the player. Alex Rodriguez was a top player in 2010, but based on his $32 million annual salary it would have cost you $320 to draft him. Is he worth more to you than drafting an up and coming player like Andrew McCutcheon, who at the league minimum salary would have cost only $4? With each round of the draft you'll have to judge which player brings the most value to your team for the price.
* Team payroll based on the first 30 rounds only.
* We'll also have $100 in FAAB (not real $) to be used for bidding on your draft slot and for auctioning 30 undrafted players following the conclusion of round 30. The auction is in place to clear out the top players that were not selected because their salaries are cost-prohibitive (all owners would need to be available on the evening when we complete Rd30). After the 30-player auction, the slow draft continues with 18 additional rounds of reserve players. The draft will take place on MDC and then be uploaded to STATS.
* This will be run as a slow draft with an 8-hour clock - it's a fun crowd, we chat a lot, and we expect guys to keep in touch on when they can pick so there are no long delays during the draft. I text players when they're up to keep things moving. If you don't really want to be involved or communicate, this isn't the draft for you. Be able to go at a pace of 4-5 rds per day and finish in 10-14 days. PM me with any questions - the first draft filled in less than a day and this one starts half-full with those from league 1.
Post here or PM me questions. Click the link below for a league description.

Re: MLBContract League
After last yr's dismal performance I can honestly say that it was worth the price of getting my ass kicked in order to have the great time drafting that I did, but this time it's payback

Rage Kage, I recommend we get started asap
...........before them salaries go up any further

no, but seriously do you have a date in mind for setting the salaries. I recall last yr Votto was $6 in the 1st draft and considerably more in the 2nd. If I'm gonna swim w/ sharks like the ones in this pool, I need all the xtra info I can get

Anyone not on here is a 4?
Re: MLBContract League
That is correct. All unlisted players are 4's.

Re: MLBContract League
KJ, do u plan on having a 1x FA auction for undrafted players like the one we had for MLBC2 last yr?
That was awesome! how much did RT bid for V. Wells, $751?
there were some other doozies, sure made it innerestin'
That damn thing was my downfall, shoulda just held onto Hosmer
sometimes it pays to be a little patient

FA Auction? I was in MLBC1 last year. Also I really do not like this auto pick for one round thing that is going around. Especially for this kind of draft.
Re: MLBContract League
You won't have to worry about it in that draft.brucepucci wrote:FA Auction? I was in MLBC1 last year. Also I really do not like this auto pick for one round thing that is going around. Especially for this kind of draft.

I'll really miss being a part of this draft this year. Easily the best time I've ever had in an Online draft bar none. Anyone new to this draft, get ready to have a blast.

from KJ's email on 1/6/12 - "The draft is set to begin Thursday at 9am eastern time. There is an 8-hour clock. Salaries are locked, new player signings from here forward won't affect those players salaries".

Re: MLBContract League #2 - 4 more spots
I thought this would fill up within minutes!
For those of you who like your players LARGE, this is the draft for you. Just about any player is on the table if you want to spend for them.
For us thrifty guys, the possibility is open that we can spend a few hundred to win $8, 000 -9,000.
If you haven't played in this, I highly recommend it.

Re: MLBContract League #2 - 4 more spots
Let's fill this thing up. Let's assume the total payroll ends up in the $15,000 range. That would put first place dollars in the $6000 range, second place in the $3300 range, third place in the $2000 range and MOY in the $3300 range. Usually there are 3-5 teams going large and one of those teams will triple their money, one will win 50%, and one will break even. The other 10-12 teams will go into this thing with payrolls of $400 - $700 and will be competing for the $3200 prize. KJ tried a "tweener" in the league I was in last year with a $960 payroll and finished second place (bumping a few of the large teams) and also finished second in the MOY quest. Had he won MOY the $960 would have cashed $7625 (total payroll was in the 17k range). My point is....lots of ways to approach this and with the new DC format combined with the 30 player auction - tons of strategy and fun.
